Once more I walk This country road, Where last I bore A dragging load. My load was lightened My boy is grown, But I am walking This road alone. Two laughing girls Just passed me by; They used to hide In my skirts to cry. I met my lover Grown grim and gray, But he spoke not, Nor looked my way. In the dust my feet Have left no track; To my churchyard sleep I will hurry back. July Sunset. TRACTOR VS. SLAVE.
