Christensen, Jacob & Gardner, this city have been definitely awarded contract by City of Ogden to lay 15 blocks of Portland cement pavement. Work will commence at once. City Council of Lewiston, Idaho, has passed notice of intention to create Improvement District No. 26, at an cost of $48,285. This estimated includes some storm sewer work. Protests to be heard August 2nd. Bancroft, Idaho, has under consideration the installation of a water system and Mayor Eugene Ruger has called a meeting of taxpayers to discuss this. $10,000 is to be spent at Boise, Idaho for construction of sewer and some buildings on National Guard encampment site at that place. W. P. Hughes, Supt. of Water Dept., Lewiston, Idaho, is urging a bond issue for needed extensions of present water system. Engineering Co., of this city has been awarded contract to build a bridge over American Falls Ralph E. Rockwell, contractor of Elko has been awarded contract to erect new Elks home that city on a bid of 67,760. Other bidders were: Alston & Hoggan, 67,987; Talboe & Co. Provo, $75,900; Anderson & McShea, Winnemucca, $7737; Ryberg, Sorensen, $71,200; R. E. Revier, Twin Falls, $74,600; Ernest White & Co., Twin Falls, $83,000. The Smith Canning Company plant at Clearfield near this city has been destroyed by fire with total loss of $150,000. The Plain City Irrigation Co. and the Marrott Canal Co of Ogden are considering the construction of a dam to be built by them jointly on the Ogden River. Reclamation Bureau officials state that construction of the Echo Dam will start in the very near future. Utah Copper Co. has let a contract for construction of 19 houses at Bingham to Tifiue Construction Co. of Bingham. It is reported that bids on the new Masonic Temple building being erected on East South Temple St., this city at a cost of $1,000,000 will be opened July 22nd. Scott & Welch, this city, are architects. According to Messers John Rugar and Knotts of the American Theatre at I'ark City, contract has been let for erection of a $50,000 theatre building at that place. Lai Board of Education of Tintic School District, Eureka, Utah, has included an appropriation of $46,000 in this years budget for erection of a gymnasium building. Howard Pennington, clerk of the Board of Education, Notus, Idaho, is receiving bids up to July 19th for conone-stor- y and basement school building at that place.
