The Pantages famous indoor circus in which clowns, elephants, horses 'n everything that goes to make a circus, is billed for next week commencing Wednesday afternoon. MADAME SCHUMANN-HEIN- K . RAISING FUNDS FOR VETS Madame Ernestine Schumann-IIeink- , the famous contralto, will appear in concert in the Salt Lake Tabernacle on the night of June 5 for the Schumann-IIeink foundation of $750,000 for the disabled American veterans of the World War. This foundation, created by herself and sponsored by a committee of nationally prominent men and women, is designed to perpetuate the disabled men's national organization and maintain the liaison service which it provides for disabled men, regardless of whether or not they are members. The appearance in Salt Lake is one of a tour which the famous diva has donated to start the fund. At the comple- on of the concert tour, the National Committee will build the fund up to the stipulated amount. is offiMadame Schumann-IIeincially the mother of the Disabled American Veterans of the World War. She was so honored at the organizations national convention four years ago. Since the war she has consistently devoted her best efforts to the welfare of the nations disabled and the veterans declare that there is no one who has done more for them than k . other Schumann-HeinkIn spite of all of her past efforts, and although nearing the close of her has career, Madame Schumann-Heinwill determined to build a fund which assure the continued existence of the wounded mens organization. In doing this she will give up a large part of ier vacation. She will receive no compensation and will pay her own expenses. She has announced that she will take a supporting soloist and her own accompanist with her. The itinerary for the concert tour follows: Los Angeles, May 29; Salt Lake City, June 5; Ohama, June 10; Toledo, June 14; Columbus, June 17; Atlanta, June 20; Fargo, N. D., June 30; Billings, k Mont., July 4; Butte, Mont., July 7; Boise, Idaho, July 10. Between the Columbus and Fargo will dates Mother Schumann-Heinvisit the annual convention of the Disabled Veterans at Atlanta, June She has always attended these convention and it is the custom to have her open the annual conclave by singing the National anthem. In Salt Lake City a local committee of prominent men and women will sponsor the concert. Mayor Neslen has accepted the chairmanship. Inasmuch as this wonderful woman is sacrificing her vacation, following a strenuous season, and as this tour will be the next to' the last one of her long and successful career, he disabled American .veterans are anxious that she be greeted everywhere with the greatest enthusiasm and by capacity audiences. k 21-2- 6.
