E. Schraven, $86,809.78. ENGINEERING President W. Griffin Gribbel of the Pennsylvania Gas Association says that 1925 was a very important year in the manufactured gas industry. It certainly proved a big year for the Utah Gas & Coke company, which secured more business than at any time before. The gas industry has suddenly sprung to the foreground because it is an ideal fuel for heating and cooking purposes and it is of simple regulation and quick results are obtained. The prediction is being made that virtually all heating processes in industry will sooner or later be fired by gaseous fuel supplied by central distributing plants. Also, that most of the countrys homes will eventually have to turn to gas for heating, assisted for a time, perhaps, by other smokeless fuels, such as oil, which Is generally considered an entering wedge for gas. The American Gas Association has established a national laboratory in Cleveland for the testing of all kinds g of appliances. Still more recent is another project to create a research corporation for the development of industrial gas equipment. It is not a question of time before these various agencies begin to show results. During the past year the local company has installed many heating plants in homes. As a result, ashes, soot and dirt in general accumulated from the use of coal has been entirely obliterated with satisfactory results.
