None of our boys have won a first place in the national events, but they have invariably finished right up with the winners and have been nosed out by a scant half wheel or whole wheel Whil- - k Uu :h toe tions, tent he f Amer length. Phil Wright,' who is the A. A. B. L. representative of this district, says that Salt Lake City has a splendid chance of obtaining the national championships next year, but we must get out and work hard for the meet. This city is rated and held as one of the greatest cycling towns of the country and many worlds records are held Bike If fans meet. which were formerly made at the Salt Palace and Saltair bicycle tracks. In order to secure a national meet it is necessary for those interested to raise money enough to provide suitable championship medals and prize cups to be awarded to the winners. The Cycling association furnishes most of the prizes, which makes it much easier for the local promoters. A national meet would bring all of 1,000 people to this city, coming from all the states. Of course this number would be greatly swelled by Utah people who would come here from all our cities in order to get a glimpse of the best riders of America. Representative Wright says that he will try to arouse enough interest to secure the meet. Here is hoping that he will succeed. could have won he would have been the George Washingex-kais- er.
