Lead has taken a downward course and while some believe it will go lower, mining men do not expect to see the metal drop below 8 cents. The metal has brought a good price the past six months, and but for the high price of lead, Utah lead mines would not be flourishing as they are at present. The price was knocked down in the London market and New York fol- lowed suit. In the United States, the manufac-tuder- s of storage batteries consume about 20 per cent of the lead, most of it used in automobiles. Henry Ford has gone into the lead mining bust- ness and he produces his own lead for I : . manufacturing purposes. I ! Great masses of rock have been shifted from their original positions, in some cases for hundreds of feet, and the resulting cracking and bucking of the various layers Is plainly in the tunnel. Some of these crevices are filled with ore, Indicating that the cracks extend to great depths, permitting liquids and gases to filler through, and offering a promising field for exploration. This mine has been a big producer in the past and there is no good reason why it will not become a big producer in the future. Seven cars of ore have been shipped this spring and more ore is piling up to be shipped when the roads down Little Cottonwood become good for traffic and hauling.
