Cowboy, Indian, buffalo hunt and cattle stampedes in the "wild west is shown true to life and furnish the exciting scenes for this gigantic production which was filmed for the benefit of future generations. Margaret Perkins, Afton Howe, Marian. Stuart, Kathleen Nelligan, Anna Polls,. .Becky Whitney and Catherine Gillespie. BESSIE r ' LOVE AND EILEEN PERCY FILM AT VICTORY. "Tongues of Flame' adapted for the screen by Townsend Martin from Peter Clark Macfarianes last novel, deals with' a conspiracy on the part of a grasping capitalist to swindle a tribe of Indians out of their valuable- reservation. Tom Meighan has the role of "Hell Fire Harrington, an easy going young lawyer, recently, returned from the World War, who at first as the tool of the capitalist persuades the Indians to turn over their valuable land, and . later, discovering the swindle, fights on the other side. ' The scene of the picture is laid in the country around Puget Sound. The story is admittedly the late author's most finished work and , to take Melghans own word for it, he, Tom, we mean, is fully in sympathy with ' the character of Henry Harrington and Macfarianes attitude towards the In-- . dian. According to the star, Hell Fire is the finest type of American in modern fiction. Tom felt sure before production work on Tongues of Flame was started that the part would .inspire him to. do his best work. And it did! The. picture proves it. Bessie Love and Eileen Percy share feminine honors opposite the star. Joseph Henabery, who made Valentino's "A Sainted Devil, directed the production. . . - CLONINGER COMPANY MAKES HIT WITH "SOME BABY. - Some Baby has created more fun at the Wilkes theatre during tne week than any show Ralph Cloninger and his company have presented for a long time. Its one of the funiest comedies written and Ralph and his cast of popular stars brought out all the humor there is in the story in a most effective way. The methods introduced to regain youth when old professors and scientists are fooled, love affairs made possible with Cloninger and Miss Berryman taking the lovers role, all bring about a combination of funny situations which keeps the audience in a continual round of laughter. If you dont like to laugh dont go to the Wilkes this week. The action of the farce is fast and the repartee of the quickfire kind, inciting continuous mlith. It is one of the most pleasing plays presented by the Cloninger company this season, and it is a play which everybody likes. There will be a matinee this afternoon and the play will be presented tonight for the last time. BETTY COMPSON. "The Garden of Weeds proved as popular as predicted it would, starring Betty Compson, at the Victory theatre. The picture is an adaptation of the popular stage play by that name which ran on Broadway for such a long time. Fellowes is featured with Warner Baxter, Charles Ogle and A1 St. John in the cast of the production. JEALOUSY. One of the greatest moral sermons ever delivered from a pulpit, or elsewhere, was heard at the Pantaiges atre last Sunday morning, when the Rev. Elmer I. Goshen spoke upon Jealousy, one of the subjects in his presentation and study of complexes. ". The only regrettable part regarding his talk upon this most important subject is that every man, woman and child in this country did not hear it. Such a sermon should be broadcasted by radio in order that more people could be benefitted. Jealousy is responsible for nearly all our domestic troubles and it is jealousy which keeps our police courts and divorce courts working over time. Jealousy first installs suspicion into our hearts and then crime, especially when there is not a level headed person in the family. Understanding is what man needs in this world. Jealousy lives on suspicions and doubts. When once the mind is poisoned you cannot escape its venom. PEOPLE REGRET TO SEE BRIDGE COMPANY LEAVE The Salt Lake public regrets the loss of the A1 Bridge Musical Comedy company which has so pleasingly entertained with first class shows at the Orpheum theatre during the fall months and up to the present time. "Mary Xmas was the last musical : comedy role played here by the winding up the local season last 'Wednesday, night, . and the company will present the same comedy for the opening offering in Kansas City.
