The Vets promenade at the Hotel Utah Thursday night was one of the big social events of the season, where a program of music and dancing delighted a large crowd, and mock trials held and fines levied, Governor Charles It Mabey being among the alleged violators and he was fined $5 for using alcohol in his radiator and driving a car without a number. Kearns will entertain in honor of Miss Kathleen Geoghegan, a June bride. Mrs. Kenneth Kerr of Seattle and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dwyer of Chicago, were guests of honor at a tea given by Mr. and Mrs. George D. Al- der at their Cottonwood home. Mrs. H. F. Dicke entertained mem- bers of the Short Story club at her home Monday afternoon. Mrs. Lloyd Weeter won the prize in the short story contest conducted by the club. Judith Clark of the East High school won the Stewart medal because of her excelled ability in athletics, sportsmanship, leadership, scholarship and general health. This is an enviable record for any girl to attain. The medal is awarded annually by Miss Charlotte Stewart, head of the physical education department, in honor of her father, William H. Stewart, who was a member of the University faculty for a number of years. - , The home of Mrs. A. H. S. Bird, 205 Center street, was the scene of a philanthropic social function at which 250 people were entertained at mah jongg and bridge Tuesday afternoon. Presiding at the tea table were Mrs. L. B. McCornick, Mrs. J. E. Dooly, Mrs. F. J. McGanney, Mrs. J. J. Burke, Mrs. J. C. Daly and Mrs. T. D. Ryan of Ogden. Assisting in serving were Mrs. D. J.
