Silver and lead have gone up during the past week which is welcome news to the mining men of Utah, especially to those who are owners of silver and lead mines. Russia has decided upon gold, silver and copper coinage and now Germany takes up the gauntlet for metallic money backed by gold. Silver is short in India and Chipa which means that a steaay flow of the white metal to those countries will cut down the supply. This is really the dull season for silver and its advance in price at this time means a great deal to all metalliferous properties. The present revolution in Mexico has stopped the production of silver in that country to a certain extent which has its influence on the market. Copper remains dull, with an occasional spurt, selling a trifle above 12 cents. Development and production of the red metal in foreign countries is the reason for the low price in this country. We produce too much copper for local consumption, and if our exports are reduced we consequently suffer on account of the over Salt Lake Stock Exchange shows some activity with fair trading in a majority of the stocks. The annual payroll to employees in Shit Lake City, engaged in preparing for and marketing live stock and live stock products is $450,000.
