This is surely news to most farmers who started wtih a lame horse, shovel and plow. We like Mr. Meads plan. If he can put it through there will be such a rush from the city to the farm that the city business man will have to invent some formula to keep some of the citizens in the city. Our higher education would not even prevent the rush. The young people of today after they get out of high school must have some such inducement to go on a farm, and then probably they would refuse to do any manual labor. 'orld over. The law allowed him to live over two years after the crime had been committed, whereas the time limit should not have gone over two weeks. He was given a fair trial. The proper place to select the national committeeman is at the state convention, where the delegates meet from every district of the state, and where the selection would be not only just, but popular as well. This year we have eleven delegates from Utah to elect to attend the Republican national convention which will be held in Cleveland. Let us not place the burden upon these eleven men to select a national committeeman, the selection of which may prove very unpopular to the majority. The delegates of the state convention should by all means handle this matter. Senator La Follette of Wisconsin has introduced a resolution under which congress would order a pre-wreduction of rates on all farm products and implements. The majority of the farmers have become bankrupt under the present system and La Follettc says conditions must be remedied. The country cannot go on as it is. Canada is down to a pre-wbasis and we can do what Canada can. ar ar i |
