Show THE CITIZEN 12 World silver markets continue dull with variations limited to a of a pence at London and one-hal- f cent at New York. There has been some selling by Shanghai but India has been a buyer. Improved exchange rates on India is a reflection of the holiday trade there and the continued appreciation of its favorable foreign balances. Total exports for July were 231,400,000 rupees against 192,300,000 in June. Imports were also larger at 181,500,000 rupees compared with 164,000,000 rupees in one-quart- er the previous month. Of Indias July imports automobile and textile machinery items were much smaller. Steel imports were unin changed while there was a large crease in cotton imports of which Great Britain secured 98. DEEPEST MINES IN BRAZIL. The deepest mine works in any part of the world are in Brazil. One of the mines of the St. John del Ray Mining vertiCompany, Ltd., has reached the cal depth of 5,826 feet, and since the vein shows no sign of losing its size or value, the company is considering means of continuing to a vertical depth of 7,626 feet. MINING NOTES. Manager Frank Hansen of the Queen Esther group has five men at work feet sinking a shaft. A depth of thirty forhas been attained and a change in mation has been reached which indicates ore values. The men are and it is ing in the Frog Valley fault about expected that at a depth of feet the contact between the eighty-fiv- e lime and quartzite will be cut. It is in this formation that ore bodies are usually encountered. Work is reported progressing at the McCune tunnel through which the East Utah ground is to be penetrated at depth and ore bodies uncovered. Caves in the tunnel have been caught disup and the adit retimbered for a tance of 1,000 feet. Two shifts are at work under the personal supervision of J. A. Dennis. Actual mining operations are to benew gin at the Park Bingham, the compressor having been installed. A tunnel is to be run for about 500 feet to reach the contact which is expected to lead to ore. Material is now on the ground for the new boarding house and the management seems determined to make the long idle old Bone group a producing property within the near future. Work at the Park Standard goes on uninterruptedly under direction of Newton Dunyon. It is reported that a true fissure vein has been cut and is being developed. A plan to prove up certain conditions which he believes exist in that section has been evolved by Mr. Dunyon. When demonstrated a tunnel site will be chosen, machinery installed and extensive mining work pushed to cut the ore bodies. The Glenallen people are hoping to start work soon. Word has been received from Manager James B. Allen that plans for financing the mine are practically completed and that before many weeks roll around, work will again be in full blast. It is held by many that with the necessary capital the Glenallen should soon be placed in the producing class. The Park Record says: So certain are some outsiders that the Park Standard, the Sphinx, the Wasatch Copperopolis, the Park Nelson and other new properties of the eastern section, will develop into big producers and ship their ores by way of He-bCity, that Tom Lawry has been approached for an option on his big ranch holdings on the Provo river, and in close proxmity to the properties mentioned, with the intention of laying out a townsite.and putting building lots on the market. No deal has been closed as yet. er NOTICE Galena Mining Company. Principal place of business, Salt Lake City, Utah.
