(Continued from Page 7.) are tough and when once put on the hook they must be cut off in order to get them off and make a good bait for catfish. Minnows can be secured at the pumps at the source of the Jordan river near Saratoga Springs. Just at the present time there are no best place to fish in the lake, but the. entire west side has a sandy shore line which makes it an ideal place to camp and also to fish. The southern end of the lake has always had the reputation of harboring the best catfish, and this locality can he reached by going through Spanish Fork. A great deal of money is being spent: on fish hatcheries and the raising of trout. It is therefore absolutely necessary that every effort should be made, to protect the fish after they have been put in the streams. While no one expects the fish and game department to be everywhere at the same time, still, of the many with the sportsmen who now belong to fishing organizations a great deal more good can be accomplished than in the past. When violations are heard of they should be made as public as possible A great many and also run down. things happened last summer that should not happen again this year, on such as: 'st Over a ton of trout were left to die in the small stream between the State penitentiary and the mouth of Parleys canyon when the water was shut off: Thousands of trout went down the irrigating ditch below Roachs and per-- ' ished on the hay lands. As this is city property there is no reason why the city employes should not be compelled to give a little attention to the preservation of the trout in the main Thousands of the taxpayers of this city fish in that canyon; and also camp there for an outing, and it is their desire that the fish be protected from unnecessary destruction. The Weber river is shot from Wan-shito Oakley every year, especially in the vicinity of Peoa. The shooting generally begins July 1 and the sportsmen ought to lay a trap this year and see if the guilty canot be apprehended; When Daniels canyon stream gets low all the fish are generally taken out with small nets by some market ' fishermen. It has been common talk that this thing has gone on for years and efforts should be made this season to catch these 'fish hogs. The water coming from the Strawberry which has been diverted- into Daniels canyon kills tons of- trout, every year. While I have never been to the falls where the alleged damage has been done, reports are vouched for by many who have been there. Many people go there every year to secure fish and it is said that the fish range in size up to six and eight pounds. If benefits. Signers for Further Information. Estate of Georgfe "A.
