F. McShane, state industrial commission member, according to the 8alt Lake Tribune. The panegyric ia from the pen of D. J. Parker, supervising engineer of the United States bateau of mines, health and safety station at Salt Lake City. Similar sentiments were voiced by McShane, who indorsed the letter and passed it on to Governor George H. Dern. .Daring the thirty years in which I have been connected with the mining industry, observes Parker, ex-in one way or another, I have had ceptional opportunity to make contact with many state mine inspectors representing the principal coal mining states of this country. In the course of such contact it has1 been my privilege to observe closely the methods employed by such inspectors, not onnormally during their inspections of ly operating mines, bnt also following catastrophes' such as occurred recently in Utah. In fairness to all concerned, I to state that in my entire experience I have seen no one, whether he do-ai- re be a mine inspector (fir company official, who possesses a higher degree of leadership, knowledge and ability than Taylor in handling difficult and dangerous situations that necessarily follow such catastrophes. Fnrthmore, it has been my pleasure and privilege to accompany Taylor on many of his inspection trips through the mines of Utah, and I have found him to be thorough,' conscientious and unbiased in hia endeavor to enforce the state coal mining regulations. In other words, I am firmly of the opinion that Taylor is doing everything humanly possible to prevent and eliminate accidents in the ooal mines of Utah."
