That Utah should have a state sanatorium for the care of residents of the state afflicted with tuberculosis was the ehief plea embodied in the rejiurt of James H. Wallis, executive secretary of the association. The reiairt contained extracts from the survey conducted on the state tuberculosis situation by Dr. II. K. Edwards, medical field secretary of the Nationrl Tuberculosis association, in which he declared that the most outstanding control measure needed was a state sanatorium. Measures taken to prevent ehildreu of tuberculosia patients from eon trading the disease were outlined by Dr. Edouard Kist, chief physician of the tuberculosia department of Lacn-ne- e Hospital at Paris (France). Outlining the work of tuberrnlosii associations, Arthur J. Strtwson of New York City, director of the field service of the National Tuberculosis association, declared that the function of such organisations was to build up publie sentiment for the prevention of the disease, and not to erect sanatorium! and do relief work.
