This is the news that is being whispered around town. The information is all keep this under your hat stuff, so that if the Review should seek official verification of the rumors afloat it also would probably he sworn to secrecy, but news ia only news while it i news. So here goes. The Columbia Steel now is operating a biproduet Kopjiers coke oven plant consisting of thirty-thre- e units. It is stated that seventy more are now being contracted for and that delivery and installation is to follow with the least possible delay. Thus the present capacity of the biproduet plant will be more than trebled. Also it is reported that the MeWayne Cast Iron Piie company of Birmingham, Ala. a large concern has decided to establish a branch pipe manufacturing plant at Ironton where, the report says, the big steel corporation will grant it ground room for the plant. This indicates, if anything, that the manufacturing concerns of the East, that are dependent on iron and steel for the conduct of their business and who are looking to the western half of the country for future business are turning their eyes on Utah. No stretch of the imagination is necessary to figure that, if this news is correct, that the Columbia also contemplates the installation of another blast furnace or two. If that happens and the oracles are predicting that it will it is easy to visualise the early establishment of rollingthemills, feafabricating plants and all of tures that go to round out a complete steel and iron manufacturing enterprise of adult proportions and magnitude. It never has been seriously believed thst the Columbia Steel corconporation, with its Pacific Coast nections and potentially broad and ex FRIDAY, NOVEMBER FRIDAY. The coal is here and the iron is here. A a manufacturing center Utah is ideally situated. Railroad connections with all portions of the West, the Coast States in all directions are such that a field for business exist in all the country this side of the of parts Missouri river. The West is just awakening to its opportunities and there is no reason to believe other than that the Columbia Steel determined to take advantage of thg situation and grow up with the country.
