I water for irrigation purposes on lands in the State of Utah may be exempted from taxation taxation taxation taxa taxa- tion to the ext extent nt that such is used for such pur pur- poses These exemptions shall accrue to the benefit of the users of water so pumped under such regulations as the legislature may prescribe The taxes of the indigent poor may maybe maybe maybe be remitted or abated at such times and in such manner as may be provided by law The legislature may provide for the exemption from taxation of homes homesteads and personal personal personal per per- property not to exceed 2000 in value for homes and homesteads and all household furnishings furniture and equipment used exclusively bythe bythe by bythe the owner thereof at athis his place of abode in maintaining a ahome ahome ahome home for himself and family Property not to exceed in hi value owned by disabled persons who served In any war warin warin warin in the military service of the United States or of the State of Utah and by the unmarried widows and minor orphans of of such persons may be exempted be-exempted exempted as the legislature may provide The le legislature shall provide by law for an annual tax suf sut- sufficient sufficient suf- suf with other sources of or revenue to defray the estimated estimated esti estimated esti- esti mated ordinary expenses of the state for each fiscal year For the purpose of paying the state debt if any there be be the legislature shall provide for levying a tax annually sufficient sufficient sufficient to pay the annual interest interest interest inter inter- est and to pay the principal of such debt within twenty years from the final passage of the law creating the debt Section 2 The secretary of state is directed to submit this proposed amendment to the electors of at the State of Utah Utah at the next general election inthe in inthe iny the manner provided by law Section 3 If adopted by the electors of this state this state this amendment shall take effect the first day of 1959 January 1 |
