It is said that they already have $3.5mj.O(mi expended there and that their total expenditures in opening the mines and in preparing to handle their output will reach the Mim of $12,000,000 before they will be to market a pound of copper or ready even take out any ore. They have their own line of freight steamers to carry supplies from Seattle to the mines, and besides the building of a large smelter the plans inelnde the building of C5 miles of railroad to the coal fields and 28 miles to the mines. In addition to all this will lie the construction of a breakwater at their Copper River harbor at a cost of 12.600,000. But, of course, with a hundred million or so of copper ore in eight and plenty of virgin territory that isn't so much. 72a75; re, 7678. flaxseed, $1.26.
