Will ba Richest District in Utah, Says Experienced Mining Man. Republican; &C0 ter worthy of Wouldn't it b.- - if. a mat- Salt Lake mining men are rariug our distant deserts in autos iu search ot Lew mining districts to conquer w uuiun't it be "one on them'' if a greater than the majority which have bean boomed in public prints and upon Eastern curb, should be opened at the very doors of these same enterprising mining nten? The village of Fanulngun is 13 miles north of Salt Lake City, by rail it ia a fact that in Farmington canyon, from out and miles W six miles esst of the Oregon Short Line depot in Farmington, showings of mineral have been found which would result in a general stampede of prospectors and Invastora to the place If the place was in the Funeral range of mountain Instead at within sight of the electric lights of a great city. Rich float is found everywhere In Farmington canyon. It was found years ago. giving values a. high aa from $3u0 to $23,000 a ton in gold. As a result of these finds farmer prospectors have "gophered" fitfully in the canyon for thr last forty years. Great ledges have been uncovered, but the fabulous values wrre nut found In them, no they were not explored to a depth that would prove anything. It is a peculiar fact ..that until within the laat year or two mining men of experience and means have not regarded Farmington canyon aa worthy of development work that would count. About three years ago WJ. Husel-to- n went into the district and began to prospect and develop in an intelligent, systematic way. He said nothing and sawed wood. He ha covered a great deal of territory with his explorations and he is convinced that he ha the beginning of several great mines. He has located altogether 32 claim lath district and these claims form the basis of a company rereutly incorporated the Tirhimlngo Mining and Development company w hich will, continue the work that ht has begun. An auxiliary of the mining company- is the Hawkeye light and Power company, which has appropriated the water In the canyon for the purpose of developing electric power for the mine and mills In prospect. This of water company haa five second-fee- t with a head of 1.380 vertical feat-a- mple to develop 600 horsepower together with the right to flood waters sufficient. It te said, to Irrigate 1.200 scree of land. It has secured a franchise which gives It the right to erect poles for its transmission linea in all the public roada, streets and alley of Dwvla county and has started the work of grading for its pipe line. Mr. Iluselton, who haa had considerable experience in mining, declares unequivocally that he believes Farmington canyon will prove to bo tha richest mining .district in Utah. He believes that on one of hie properties he has discovered the vein from which comes the rich float fovtpd in the district . Hollingsworth of Weber county, the three hills pertaining to the creation of a mate insurance department were laid on the table. They may come up again and they may not, but they went to the mat Inst night and took the count after n slashing and cutting attackforced by the artist from Weber counBecause the senate looked with dip favor on his bill, and becaum! the committee, as he charged, bad not given him a hearing on his measure. Senator Hollingsworth would not let Senator Benner X. 8m!th's measure bill pass until he had amended every section, had eliminated parts here and there and had amputated several Important provisions. In fact he was gradually amending the Smith bill with section from the Hollingsworth bill, and when he waa caught fa the act he Insisted that he had a right to make any amendments he saw fit He kept it up until Senator Lawrence, who had been backing Jhe Smith bill, threw up the sponge and moved that all three hills be laid oa the table. The third bill was merely a companion to the Smith bill, and defined the duties of the state bank examiner, whose work Is affected by the proposed change. ..... . M. E. California and Eastern races.
