In the afternoon yesterday, an executive meeting was held at which officers for the rauing year were elected, a camp lire at which pork and beans were served was held at Utahns pavilion about H o'clock, a program was rendered in the Grand Opera house in the evening and a dance for the voting was given at Vtahna pavilion this concluded the day's entertainment. The committees and the members of tost are to be congratulated on the able manner in which they handled the immense crowds. The careful preparation which they gave the arranging details for the encampment waa worthy of the success which waa attained. Following are the names of the different committeemen: Executive J. V. About 10:30 o'clock yesterday morning special trains from the north and south arrived, bringing in Civil War comrades, their wives, chilJren and Mends. They were met at the Union depot by representative citizens of the local post of the U. A. R. A grand parade waa formed in the Platoon of police, following order: Ogden concert band, Spanish war vetBlackmar erans, Commander-in-chie- f and staff and Mayor Glasmann In carriages, local national guard, vialtlng department commanders and staffs, department commander of Utah and staff, past department commanders of post, of McKean, Hannork, Maxwell, Sherman and Blark Hawk and old soldlera. Women's Relief Corps of the McKean, Maxwell and posts. The order of parade was up Twenty-fift- h street past the thousands of school children that had lined both aides of the street. The students of tne Weber Stake academy, Deaf and Dumb school, and Ogden nigh school were out under the direction of principals and teachers. One of the pleasing features of the parade was the singing of patriotic airs by the Weber Stake students a the parade passed by. Breaking ranks, they lined both aides of the street and aa the veterans walked by with uncovered beaus sang the 'Battle Hymn of the Republic." street on Marching to Twenty-thirWashington avenue, the parade counter-marched to th Grand Opera house, where several speeches were delivered by prominent G. He then Introduced Mayor Glasmann whu gave the address of welcome as follows: Mayor's Welcome. "Mr. President, ladies and gentlemen and members of the Grand Army of the Republic: It gives me pleasure to welcome yon to our city. During the three and a half years I have presided over the deatmles of Ogden, 1 have welcomed many organisations and distinguished guests. Among them was the president of the United States, (applause), and I assure you that It haa always been a pleasant duty for me to extend the hospitality of our city, hut, at none of these functions of the past have I welcomed to our city a body of men and women that represents. the pat riot lam and glory of our country so much aa do the men who were with the great and Immortal Grant, the grandest of all the great commanders of the Grand Army of the Republic. Nothing means so much to our children aa the sight of the gray ualred veterans parading the streets in the uniforms in which .they fought for d toeir country. Soon the soldiers of the Grand Army will be gone. Every day taps sound for some to go to rest, from 'which they will never awake. The few who are left to teach freedom and liberty are the storlea to repeat meeting annually of victorias ' won. They are lessons and inspirations to the youth of our Inad. So well haa the Grand Army done Its work In days of peace aa well as in war. that the rising generation la ready to embrace Old Glory and keep her stainless in the future.
