Show Spanish-American Spanish War Veteran Dies In Manti at A Age e 87 Funeral services for lor Nephi Ottosen Ot- Ot Ottosen Ot Ot- 87 87 will be held In the ManU Manti Man Man- U ti Center Ward Chapel Thursday March 6 at 1 pm p.m. with Bishop Morgan Dyreng conducting Mr Otto Ottosen sen died at his home in Manti Man Man- ti U Sunday evening He had been active and good health right up to the time of his death He lie was born in Gunnison April 17 1870 a son of Jens and Jo Johanna Johanna Jo- Jo hanna hanla Sorensen Ottosen He has made his home in Manti since 1871 He lIe work worked d in many capacities capacities capacities capa capa- cities including City Marshall Deputy Sheriff member of the ManU Manti City Council director of the ManU Hatchery Manti-Hatchery and operated of the egg grading plant operator operator operator oper oper- ator of a sawmill for 8 years and operated a meat market for 22 years He married Elizabeth Ahlstrom June 6 1900 in the Manti Temple and she died in 1943 He married Lottie K Hoggan June 24 1946 A veteran of the Spanish Am War Mr Ottosen served with the U. U S S. S Ann Army in the Phil Phil- He e commanded a unit under General Gener l MacArt MacArthur father of Douglas and was as later a leader lead lead- er in the National Guard unit in Manti ManU His n military experiences were very bright In his memory and he delighted in trading stories stories stor stor- ies les with veterans of any war on any occasion Survivors include his widow three sons and three daughters Clifton N. N and Gerald both of s Salt Lake City Eldon and Mrs Helen Oliver both of Sacramento to California Mrs Mary Chiara Chlara of Helper Mrs Zelma Poulson of Ephraim 14 grandchildren 4 great grandchildren en and a sister Mrs Jessie of San Bernardino Ber Der- Bernardino nardino California Burial will be in the Manti ManU Cemetery under the direction of the Buchanan Mortuary with full military rites b being ing offered by American Legion Post 31 o- o |
