This Information reached a few days ago unofficially and was given to the public through the columns of the State Journal then. Today thia Information was confirmed officially. Great credit la due in this connection to the officers and directors of the Weber club in bringing the headuarqter to Ogden. A hard add persistent fight was made by Balt Lake City, hacked by the politicians, hl?h and low, who have their Interests centered there, anj the victory won for this city Is no mean one. Secretary I. L. Reynolds, of the Weber club, eient tlia past month In Washington, D. C., looking after the details of that end of the of evfight, and at every stage be had the hearty support and ery member of the Welter club, of the local press, of the businessmen and of all the influence that centers here. Incidentally it may be said that the forestry men already located in this rlty pulled hard for Ogden end they have become Infatuated with the Place. j It Is too early now to say what the local Ion of the headquarters of the fourth district of the forestry service means to Ogden. This Is now anj will continue to be, the largest and most Important dlsirlet of the six. In a large measure It will dominate all the others. The supply depot for the entire western country will be located here and all supplies will go out from here. This Is because the depot Is already located here; because of the central location of the dly with reference to the other districts; and because of Its " splendid railroad facilities. Some idea of the Importance of the victory won. In a commercial way, may be obtained from the statement that $$0,000 will be kept on deposit In the local hanks by the government at Hi time for the transaction of local business. Right at the beginning there will be 75 persona employed In the department here. This will represent about sixty families which will be no mean addition to the population of the city. All of these employee will re- celve good salaries, ranging from $1,200 to $$,100 a year. This money, representing practically $200,000 a year, wjll be thrown Into local business chan- I nels. The fact that Ogden city was selected as the location of the headquart-er- a for these Important government offices over Salt Lake City after a thorough Investigation of all the advantages of the two cities. Is one of the most significant features of the victory. The central location, the freedom from religious broils, the splendid schools, churches and society, the lower cost of living all these factors carried weight. And back of t al Is the splendid and united fight made by the public spirited men of the community under the Intelligent lend of the officers and directors of the Weber club. District Forester Clyde Leavitt Is now in the city looking over the grounds for suitable headquarters. The transfer from Washington, D. C, to Ogden will be made at once. Mining coiniiany, two- place. Dy the arrest of Ben Foreman at Corey Brothers livery stable early this morning, Sheriff Barlow B. Wilson believes he has captured the man who stole a fine black saddle horse from Superintendent Daly of the Silver King mine in Park City. Information regarding the theft was received by Sheriff Wilson yesterday and he Immediately made the rounds of the livery stables, late last night finding an animal at the Corey stable which answered In detail the description given of the stolen horse. He laid a clever trap to catch the owner, and when Foreman appeared thia morning for the horse, those at the stable Immediately telephoned to the authorities. Within a few minutes Foreman was captured as he was driving away, and landed In the county hostile. He denied having been In Park City, and Insisted that the animal was his own property, and that he had ridden It with Communication from Tooele. Sheriff Evans at Park City, however, corroborated the belief of Sheriff Wilson that Foreman was the man wanted for the theft. Besides the supposed stolen horse, he had four whips of unusual length which are used for driving four horses. The theft of these whips was also reported from the mines a few days ago. $8,-50- 0 Is Withdrawn by Man Who Made It CHICAGO, 111., Sept 17. -J-udge Gem-rrie- ll In the municipal court today dismissed the cane against Thomas Kearns of Rawhide.
