It Is estimated that 200,000 people were Uned up along the route. The Simplex, Driver Watson, struck a post near East View smashing ths car. Neither Watson nor the car seriously hurt The Simplex was repaired and It was out of the race, of course, but was cheered for its gameneaa. One Man Drops Dead The following casualties are reported as a result of the rate: A. Smith pipkins, superintendent East View; Alms House, dropped dead of heart disease as a result of the excitement before the start: W. Watson, driver of ths Simplex, Jarred Internally and Mg toe broken In the accident; Henry Wilcox, a spectator, hit by a car near the start and right leg broken; Washington Kirkpatrick fell while watching the race and had left ankle broken; Mrs. Charles U. All the best men of the last deends have been tried out on Franklin Field. All the s, great hurdlers from Kransleln to all ths tost sprinters from Wef-er- a and Duffy to Cartmell, scores of the best mllers, fast qumrter-mllershot putters, high Jumpers, etc, hap all been seen In competition at throe sports. Teams or Individual athletes will be on hand from all sections of ths country, and It la more than probable that some new mark will be reached. April 14. Trouble, in the form of a powerful new outlaw organixatlon, will loom large on the baseball horiaon tomorrow, when the new Union League opens its championship season. The new league will furnish opposition to the National League In Brooklyn, to the American League in Washington and to both of the major, leagues In Philadelphia. The Eastern League will find the outlaws a competitor in Baltimore. The Union League opening tomorrow will find Philadelphia at Brooklyn Baltimore at Elisabeth, Washington at Reading and Paterson at Wilmington. The season will extend to September II, giving practically five months of playing.
