He la still as popular as ever and no matter In what city he stops he can count hie friends by the score. He la still the athlete he always was In appearance, straight aa an arrow, with elastic step and piercing eye. Every movement of his body denotes ease and actlvnes which at one time won for him the world's championship and ha la atl'l considered the cleverest boxer today. In regard to the fighting game Corbett said: The game today la Just where is waa when John L. Sullivan was In hit prime. He stood alone and there was no one to fight him until he became nearly too old to box. At that period a dosen good men appeared In the class, In fact all the heavyweight clasaea were well represented. Today the fight game la nearthe bottom-oly knocked out from the fact thrt be found. Why, good men cannot Jeffries could lick all the heavies of the present day In one night. There Is no one In hts class. I look for a lull of ten years In the game. There are youngsters today growing up who In several years will coma out aa and then the game will boom again as It did ten years ago. T spent three days with Jeffries In jos Angelea He asked me what I thought about hla getting In the game once more. I told him not to do It unless he liked the sport. That he was th greatest living fighter and could make good money without boxing, and Jefferies said that he would never fight again. Ha weighs 280 pounds, but let ma tell you, he la Just as hard as that wall, and when poeple think the big fellow Is not taking care of himself they are dreaming. "When I get a little older I am coming West to make my home. The West has the East beaten a mile for everything. I lived In this city twenty-one years ago. Where I will settle down for keeps, I do not know." Corbett will remain hero three days, going thence to Ogden. f top-nntch- - GREAT RACEMEET AT OLD PIMLICO BALTIMORE, April 21.
