I Interest Paid on Savings Accounts and Time Deposits denned by the fact that they have not put their stock on the market at penny prices, and b, the further fact that; they have plenty of coin in their tress- uriea for eeriuua mining. If the layman does nut understand why the demand fur copper constantly Increases, that demand may very easily explained. The chief use of purs copper is fur electric work. It is used in the construction of dynamos and ' motors; great quantities are rolled Into wire fur many purposes, including submarine cables, telephone ; and transmission lines fur light and power service. The kitchen puts and ; Iaiui explain some of Its consumption. Its use as an alloy la astonishing. Red brass is I per cent cupper. Yellow brass is two-thirOf the copper. finest gold Jewelry nearly 25 per cent is copper. Every ship propeller contains mure copper than anything else. And of the weight upper makes one-ten- th of every silver coin minted by the United States In 1894 copper sold for only I cents a pound. Now it brings 22 cents The copper district of Lake Superior yielded huge profits from veins and ledges where the copper in the ore ran as low as I per cent. The Butte dividends were paid in great part from a 4 per cent tonnage. With the uses for copper Increasing from day to day, with the supply heretofore available lagging farther and farther to the rearward of demand, the reason for the excitement over the Gteenwater discovery and Its subsequent developments scarcely needs elaborate emphasis. At the present time It seems to be agreed that the cream of the properties st Greenwater is defined by the Copper Blue claim, on which Patsy Clark has made so phenomenal a strike, and the Anxiety and Copper Shoe claims, adjoining the Copper Blue and showing a continuation of Its great ledge. And It la agreed by al Ithe experts on the ground that 'vhen the Anxiety and Copper Shoe properties are started toward development, an event to take place within the next ten days, the Furnace Creek 8outh Extension, as the corporation being promoted for this purpose by the L. M. Sullivan Trust company Is known, will prove to the satisfaction of the last liesslmlst that Greenwater la the undoubted leader among all the copper districts of five continents. : i Heinz. and Schwab Intereatcd. California. responsible for this sensation Is copper. The amount of copper ore in surface showings along is tremendous. The copper ore yielded by every shaft that is sunk is proving from hour to hour j that Greenwater Is without doulit the greatest copper mining territory ever louud in the world. It Is bigger than Butte. It is bigger than Bisbet. It is bigger than all the copper dlstrieis of t n tana and Arisons put together. It is so incontestably big and valuable that nearly fcM.iHi0.0n0 has been invested in 100 claims during the last six months. And the men who have thus invested so vast a. sum are many of them among the moat important mine ow ners of this generation. To recite the simple facts about the bonanzas suddenly evolved at Greenwater Is to court either wonder or This district was practically unknown, practically unexplored, within so short a time as ten years ago. It lies far up among the remoter Trags of the Funeral range. It was supposed until recently to be beyond the reach of an adequate water supply. The mere suggestion of a possible rail-loa- d leading to these crests, from which, on the California side, there is an almost sheer drop to desolate Death valley, was primarily received with ridicule. It Is unknown no longer. It has been explored from end to end. It will have a railroad and all the water It can use early in the new year. In other words, and without exaggeration, It has Juiiuied from obscurity to the biggest mining potentiality oil record, in less than a decade. Copper mining It expensive. No copper proposition waa ever opened up by anything except real money. Only a foul would try wlldcalllng operations In this metal, and the fool would have his trouble for his pains. The Anns and Individuals who have put up their money and reputations Into the future of Greenwater properties Individuals and firms like Iatsy Clark, Augustus Iieinse, diaries M. Schwab, the L. U. Sullivan Trust coiniiany, Kenator Clark of Montana and "Boiax"' Smith are making tnis investment because they are absolutely certain of the Investment's value. To overlook the Importance and the solid foundation of Greenwster's claim upon public attention Is pure folly. The total copper production of the United States fur IMS was about 400,000 tons Fully half of this tonnage came from Butte, where much of the beat copper ores mined shows values of 4 per cent, upon which more than has been paid in dividends. The Greenwater district has twice the area of Butte. Ita copper showings run as high as 32 per cent. The supply of copper during the last year fell far short of the demand to be exact, while the Increase In production was only per cent the increased demand was figured st 24 per cent. It does not need a diagram to shuw why the Greenwater Investors are confident of stupendous profits.
