This morning one hundred machinist walked out of the Southern Pacific railroad company's shops In this city and will remain out until tomorrow morning when they will report for work, but It la possible that they may again walk out. Rumor of a strife were current, but these are wholly untrue. The men claim that tha labor or wage question dote not enter Into the difficulty, whatever, that the movement haa nothing ln common with a strike movement They allege that the trouble lo due entirely to the dissatisfaction of the men over the existing conditions of the shops. They claim that the buildings are not properly heated and that the men have suffered with the cold, and that they are not properly ventilated to carry away tha smoke of the engines brought there for repair, and other things of a like nature to which the men object to. They allege that they have complained to Master Mechanic .Malone and have threatened this action If conditions were not remedied, but that nothing has been done. They are all going to report for work tomorrow morning and unless they are given soma satisfaction, they will again walk out and will continue to do ao until their demands are acceded to. MINING CO.
