The state convention for the election of six delegates to the National convention will be held next Friday in the Salt Lake theatre. The delegates to the state convention have been chosen from the various counties. The contest in the convention will be between the Kearns and the factions. There will be no harmony of the Tribune brand, hie prospects are that there will be harmony enough among the delegates, however, to snow under the Kearns faction. Truths forecast of the convention is that Glasinann of Ogden will be temporary chairman and probably permanent chairman. Glasmann has given assurances which are considered suffis cient that he is from the crown of his head to the soles of his feet. Had he not done so he would not have been considered for presiding officer for a moment. of the House Thomas Hull, will probably be selected for secretary.'To G. B. His record is spotless, and as a jurist he has few equals in the west. Sheriff Emery will doubtless receive tho Republican nomination for sheriff to succeed himself. Ho has made, and is continuing to make, an exceptionally good record in tho office. Of course ho will have the Tribune against him, but that is strongly in his favor. V I Senator Kearns and his morning personal organ have come down on their knees. At. last it has begun to dawn on the dull, fatty, egotistical brain of the senator that he Is beaten, that ho has made himself tho most despised and the most unpopular man n Utah. Just as Truth predicted In last weeks issue, the Tribune came out with its plea for harmony in tho Republican party. To produce this clement of harmony it, an lmiK)sslblo however, proposes thing. It suggests that delegates to the national convention be selected from among Republicans who belong to neither faction. There are only two factions among the Republicans of Utah, tho Kearns and the and every Republican in tho state with ordinary Intelligence belongs to either one or the other. There Is no neutrals, conservatives or middle of the road men. Therefore to carry out tho demand of the Tribune it would be necessary to select Democrats or Socialists or members of some other party to attend the Republican national convention. In the list of eligible Republicans printed by the Tribune there is not a man who is not identified with one or the other of the two factions. The war has been going on ever since Kearns bought his way Into the United States senate, and his fool policy in every possible way ever since has intensified the feeling. There can be no compromise and there will be none. This Tribune plea for harmony is only a subterfuge. There is no sincerity or good faith in it. Its merely a scheme by which the Kearns crowd would get in their henchment for The most subservient delegates. Kearns tools go up and down denying that they are Kearns men, but when tho proper time comes they show by their actions who owns them. That scheme is old, its worked out, the people are on to it, It cant be used any more successfully. There can be measures.
