Show TRUT H 10 CLYDE ELLISON GOES FREE. It did not take the jury in the Clyde Ellison case very long to return a verdict of "not guilty. Only two ballots were necessary. From a conversation had with one of the jurymen it appears that the question of the Insanity or sanity of the defendant at the time of the shooting was merely incidental in the minds of the jury. The question of justification was the point considered by the twelve men who held the fate of the young man in their hands. The result establishes their belief in the testimony- - offered at the trial that Watson debauched the wife of the defendant and that he, after having the matter repeatedly brought to his attention, finally became so wrought up in his feelings by the knowledge of his wifes error and Watsons wickedness that he killed the destroyer of his home. Had Mrs. Ellison kept away from the court room the result might have been different. But a bad impression was produced upon the minds of the juiy by the sight of the smirking little female sitting close to the prosecuting attorneys, offering suggestions to them in the matter of statements upon which to formulate questions. It looked much like a wife trying to send her husband to the executioner. It was done through an intention on her part to vindicate her virtue, according to the statements made in argument, but the jury thought otherwise. A wronged wife would have been heartbroken at such insinuations and charges as were made during the taking of evidence and arguments of shrank counsel, and would have from the exposure, but this woman did not neem to care at all, and apparently endeavored to repel the insinuations made to the effect that she had .sinned with the deceased, by trying 'to convict her wronged husband and having him shot or hanged. The verdict will give satisfaction to those who believe that Watson was a man of the who entered the sanctity wife. the It and home despoiled is is a lamentable fact that shooting by far too promiscuous in this neighborhood and human life is about as cheap a commodity as can be found in the market, being much lower than strawberries vrhen everything is considered.
