So confident is the management of the value of the strike that four new wells will be started on the quarter section which contains the producing well. The only setback this field has met with so far is the abandonment of the Baker well. At the Fossil field the Idaho rig is down 940 feet, and the work is progressing rapiley. dly. A strike was made in the well at a depth of 820 feet. In most wells this would have been dignified by the name of a genuine strike, and as such would have been heralded over the country. The paraffine rig in this field is now in operation the latter portion of the week, and a strike is hourly expected. These two rigs, with the exception of assessment outfits, arc the only ones in the field which are in operation. field In the Green River nothing of importance has happened during the week. There are niany rumors of deals in the ,air, any one of which, if effected, would bring new life into the field, in addition to the work which is now on. In this connection it may be well to say that a greater number of inquiries are be-ffl- g made for oil lands than for some months past, which goes cutside capital has not the fields. En.ty tion of Wyoming, as it means the early bringing in of an oil well. The pluck of this organization is to be commended, and if success crowns their efforts it will be fully desrved. Cabez-Dcbcq- The Baity Oil company of Spring Valley has received the machinery of their rig, and are now engaged in spudding. The company has prepared for winter work, and will run continuously until the job is completed. Mr. Baity is an old oil man, and the success of the work is assured. The New York & Utah rig is doing good work in Clarks Valley. Indications of oil have recently multiplied and the management are of the opinion that a strike wll be recorded in the near future. A depth of 800 feet and over has been attained in this the Burns well is promised in the near future. It is reported that the casing will be on hand, and that barring accidents the promised 2,500 feet will be completed before the close of the winter. Director Phillips will be in Salt Lake the first of the coming week. The resumption of work on P. L. Griffin is back again in the city after an absence of over three weeks.
