The meeting of the convention has been looked forward to for. nearly a year as a big event in the history of Salt Lake City and great preparations have been made for the reception and entertainment of the visitors who are already beginning to arrive. Salt Lake people are always hospitable and now they will outdo all former eiforts. The oc zens extends a casion is worthy of it. It is the first really big convention which has ever been held in this city. To the members of the local lodge of Elks is due the credit of bringing the convention here. If Salt Lake rises to the occasion, as she will, and properly takes care of her guests, she will be put on the list of convention cities and this gathering will be the precursor of many others of equal importance and extent. If she should fall down in it, it would be a fearful black eye for the town. The local Elks, one and all, have been workiug like beavers for the success of the occasion; working for the honor of Salt Lake as well as for their own. They have met with generous support from the citizens. All is in readiness. The gates are flung wide open. Come along jolly Elks, the town is yours. According to the statement of the Elks entertainment committee, it is not the desire of the visitors to be taken from place to place to see set entertainments, nor will the local lodge attempt any such thing. After the parades and meetings, the visitors will be turned loose to roam as they please and do what they please. The following are the features of the three days. , FIRST DAY.
