A. Twombley of Boston, is most The encouraging. Mr. Twombley is an experienced oil man and came here with J. Davis, manager of the San Rafael company, representing Boston A. a thorough inRafael workings and of that region generally and pronounced it the greatest oil field in the world. He took samples of the oil flowing from the San Rafael well and will take them east with him. His visit here will doubtless prove of great service in bringing the Utah oil fields to the notice of eastern capitalists, and Mr. Davis's long to the east will it trip appears turn out to have been of greater benefit to the public than if he had remained at home and engaged with all his might in the quarrel between the mayor and the council. The lands are to be developed by a number of Standard rigs, which have been ordered at Pittsburg, and in the contracts so far drawn these are to be at work within the ninety days. Price Advocate. ft J. J. Hardy, of the Jager Oil company of Chicago, was in Salt Lake a few days ago accompanied by B. M. Austermain of Chicago. The Jager company has 23,000 acres of oil land in Uintah county, Wyoming. Mr. Hardy says he expects a genuine oil boom in that region. His company has six rigs on the way and will put them all into commission at the earliest possible moment. The company, Mr. Hardy says, refused from a New Yorker $1,000 an acre for a portion of its land. Following is a complete list of the oil com panies that have been organized in Utah, forty-nin- e in number. These corporations have all been organized within the present year, except the Juab Oil and Coal company, which was formed in 1894.
