ALL CAR PARTS Roosevelt UHS Science club news This year the UHS Science Club held a recy Icing campaign and the funds raised were sued to purchase a 100 gallon aquarium for the science department. The club collected approximately 25,000 cans, and with matching funds from the school board was able to purchase the aquarium and accessories earlier this month. The Science Club is new at Union this year and the main purpose is to promote academics and provide projects and activities for student This year the organization has gone to the University of Utah to observe experiments being done on artificial organs. Last fall they spent a day at Brush Creek Cave. The recycling campaign is to be carried throughout the entire year. The aquarium is only one of the many benefits the dub hopes to leave the science depart- ment Future activities for the year will include a backpacking trip and possibly a trip to the Bonanaza fossil beds. In the mar future, they will initiate an Environmental Campaign at the school. This year's officers are: president Kathie Lemon; vice president, Steven McKay; secretary, Cindy Jones; Sophomore rep. Susan Lemon. Thelma visited Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Curry as did Vida. She also visited Mr. and Mrs. Ted D. Nye and family and Mr. and Mrs. Carl John Nye and family. Vida visited Mr. and Mrs. Ross Mallet and family, Mr. Ed Curry and then she went to Orem and visited Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Johnson and family. They returned Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Max Giles and family, Draper spent Sunday and Monday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Frank Defo and helping with chores. e Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Pace and family of Salt Lake visited Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lee and mr. and Mrs. Brent Lee and family, e Evelyn Webb and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Webb and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Lional Webb and family last weekend, e Mr. and Mrs. Jack Evans and family of Salt Lake visited Mr. and Mrs. Lance Webb and fomily last weekend. They came out to see their new granddaughter who came home from the hospital Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. LaVere Fabrizio and family and Mrs. Flora Fabrizio went to Salt Lake Monday where Flora kept a doctor appointment They also visited Sue's folks and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Ogden and family. e Mr. and Mrs. Bemell Rhoades spent Sunday and Monday in Provo and Orem visiting Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lee and family. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Johnson. LaMar just got out of the Utah Valley Hospital after several weeks stay. He is doing much better. They have never found their stolen car. e Everyone was most happy and thankful for the snow which came Monday evening. At our home we had 6 inches but at upper Hanna there was 8 inches. Much more fell in the mountains. Mrs. Florence Roberts returned home after spending a week in Ogden taking care of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Roberts and family while they went on a trip to Mexico. There were 26 couples that went from their ward. Don't forget the 2nd Tuesday is work day. It will start with the lesson at 10 a.m. with very interesting mini classes in sewing and cooking, also first aid. Dinner at noon. On the 3rd Tuesday they will celebrate the Birthday anniversary of the Relief Society with a special birthday party. All ladies are invited. The other two lessons of the month will be held on the last two Tuesdays. There are five Tuesdays this month. e This Thursday will be Relief Society Leadership in Duchesne for all officers and teachers. Please be at the Tabiona Church by 12:30 for those who need rides, e Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hansen and fomily spent the weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs. John Needy Larraines parents and their son Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hansen and family in Kaysville and relatives in Bountiful. Mr. and Mrs. LaVere Fabrizio kept a doctor appointment in Provo Thursday of this week. Utah Power & Light seeks another rate increase, many of our customers are asking: Why does Utah Power need so much; who's really responsible?" A fair question. Whether we like it or not, the area's population is growing at a rate almost three times as fast as the nation. So theres really no mystery: In addition to covering added operating costs due to inflation, Utah Power is asking rate increases to help build electric generating plants those already under construction and those that must be started now completing a new plant about every two years. These plants must be built at high construction costs and equipped with costly pollution controls. The increase will enable Utah Power to borrow the money at economically feasible rates that will make it possible to build them. It takes five years to build a new plant... that's why at Utah Power, it's already tomorrow!
