A search of the scene and the suspects' jWi STANDARD-M- AY Two burglary suspects apprehended The apprehension of two individuals early Thursday morning may have solved one business burglary and several home break ins. Items taken in the thefts were discovered in the possession of the suspects. Roosevelt city police officer, Steven Davis, received a call early Thursday morning to cheek an unknown trouble" call in the county northwest of the city. Officers of the Ute Tribal Police responded to assist officer Davis. In the area known as nasty tree, the officers found six members of the Ute Tribe, two armed and four badly beaten. The victims reported they had been shot 1975. MARCH vehicle revealed one illegal automatic weapon and approximately half pound of peyote. A more detailed search of the vehicle then revealed a quantity of toola identified as belonging to L and L Motor Company, and items that were believed to have been taken from homes in the Ft Duchesne area. Both suspects were turned over to the Ute Tribal Police and charged with minor misdemeanors. According to Roosevelt Police Chief Robert Stockwell, members of the Ute Tribe cannot be arrested on a felony charge by local officers. The police chief went on to state that the U. S. attorney has declined prosecution to the subjects on the burglary or drug violations, and tribal regulations do not cover these offenses. TheFBI is continuing the investigation of felony assult charges, however. At the present time Mr. Mountainlion is being held on $180 bail, after being charged with four felonies and violating parole. Smart, president of the Utah Lung Association, announced the results of tiie most successful fund raising r program in the Association's history. Public contributions totalled $97,599.20 for the 1974-7- 5 fiscal year ending March 31, 1975. That is an increase of $10,514.55 over, the previous year. It exceeded the previous high' contribution mark of $92,213.96 in 1972-7Mr. Smart expressed the gratitude of the volunteers, board of directors and staff of the Lung Association to the thousands of Utahns who made charitable contributions to the Christmas Seal Campaign and the Emphysema Fund. Mr. Smart noted that the Emphysema Fund drive for the 1975-7- 6 year is now in progress.
