Show COUPLE EXCHANGE VOWS IN SUMMER RITES The former Kathy Jean Jessen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Jessen of Ml. Home and Ronald Leo Bird, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Bird of Bluebell were married July 27, in a double ring ceremony in the Altamont Ward Chapel by Bishop Martin Brotherson. The young couple greeted guests at a reception held in their honor the same evening. The young bride looked charming in a floor length satin gown trimmed with lace pearls and blue ribbons, and carried a bouquet of white roses, blue and white carnations and baby breath. Serving the bride as Maid of Honor was Terry Lyn Lindsey, a cousin of the bride. She wore a blue gown with white trimming, and blue carnations with baby breath for flowers. Erna LaRose, Val La Rose and Linda Daniels, served as bridesmaids. They were also dressed in blue gowns with white trim and carried blue carnations and baby breath. The brides mother was dressed in a light blue gown and wore a corsage of white roses blue carnations and baby breath. The mother of the groom was also dressed in a light blue gown similar to that worn by the mother of the bride and wore a corsage of white roses blue carnations and baby breath. Serving the groom as best man was Gary Bird. The four layer wedding cake was decorated in while with blue hearts, white dove, and a miniature bride and groom adorning the top. Refreshments were served buffet style. Lorna Long and Larene Larsen were in charge of gifts, and Claudia Powell sat at the guest book. The bride chose for her going away ensemble a dark blue pantsuit. The pair honeymooned in Yellowstone National park. They are making their home in Bluebell. Mrs. Imm Newtl Those from out of the area attending the funeral of Mrs. Grace Dalgleish included Mrs. Margaret Walker and daughter, Jean; Mr. and Mrs. Chester Dalgleish, son Chet and his wife; Arthur Orr, and Mrs. Homer Robinson, all of Salt Lake. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Harding was blessed and given the name of Angelia Rhae Harding by her grandfather, Russell Gingell last Sunday. Ronnie Mortensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Mortensen was confirmed by his father. Wayne Gingell was also confirmed last Sunday. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Gingell. His father confirmed him. The community was saddened to hear that Grace Dalgleish a long time resident had passed away Wednesday. service was held Saturday at the Presbyterian Church. She was buried in Orem. The MIA held their opening social at Lake Boren. Again the community was saddened to hear of the passing of Arthema Rich-enHer services will be held in the My ton Ward Chapel this Wednesday. Mr. Boyd Meldrum has been in a Salt Lake hospital. The club thanks those who took time out to attend the barbeque and especially those who tended the fire during the entire night before the big feast. Ashby and family of Roosevelt, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Mantle of Murray. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Roberts were Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Roberts and family of Ogden. They attended church with the family. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Wadley of Salt Lake visited relatives and friends in this area over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Turnbow and family and Reed Turnbow all of Salt Lake visited with parents, Mr and Mrs. Burnell Turnbow. Barbara and Larry Williams of Logan stayed at Larry Williams family home on Tabby Mt. over Labor Day. They also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Skewes. Niel and Carma Fabrizio and family of Bountiful visited relatives and friends last weekend. They enjoyed a family dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Art Fabrizio. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Defa this weekend were, Mr. and Mrs. Max Giles and family. They came to bottle fruit for Carol's mother who has been ill. LaPriel Cheney, Genieve Fines and Carl Ivie visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Defa, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Clegg and Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Rhoades. They are from Salt Lake. Carl has been ill and everybody was glad to see him. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne and Evelyn Jones visited Bertha Jones in Boise, Idaho. Also visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Jones was Craig and Kay Nielson, Earl and Mary Jones; Charles Coon and Evelyns sister, Elaine and husband, all of Salt Lake. Lee Wagstaff returned home from the hospital last week and is showing improvement after surgery. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leo B. Defa this past week were Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Michie of Provo and Dennis Phillips of Salt Lake. They kept doctors appointments in Salt Lake Thursday of this week. Leah and Evelyn Webb of Salt Lake visited their parents this weekend, Mr. and Mrs. Lional Webb. Mr. and Mrs. Max Fabrizio had their baby daughter named and blessed at sacrament meeting Sunday. She was given the name of Katy Jean Fabrizio by her father. Max. Mr. and Mrs. Jake Miller and baby of Bountiful visited this Friday and stayed overnight with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lee and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Skewes. They were on their way fishing at North Fork. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lee over Labor Day were Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lee and family of Orem, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Pace and family of Salt Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Murphy and family of Salt Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Murphy and family of Roosevelt. They came to help Brent with the haying and other work around the farm. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Mallet and family spent Labor Day weekend at the home of Mick and Vida Jensen. Terry Burt Fabrizio was able to come home with her new baby girl after spending a week in the LDS hospital in Salt Lake. Open Kettle Canning should bo used only for jellies, jams, etc., that you plan to seal with paraffin. Reasons why jars do not or cannot seal. 1. Using make shift supplies, off standard jars, called a packers jar. Mouths are not accurate width, lids ride on edge, sealing edges not level, have dips. 2. Using screw hands that an1 not in good condition, have dents, rusty spots or pried up edges. 3. Not screwing band tight against sealing edge before processing. 4. Using jars with nicks or cracks on sealing surface or have sharp sealing edge. 5. Failure to wipe sealing edge clean, particles of food left on can permit air to seep back into jar. 6. Food, seeds, or grease lodged bet- - liquid is lust during processing, prevents sealing nr is res poiisible for later release of seal. 7. Lack of heat. Reasons why food spoils. Pressure cooker not accurate, should be tested once a year. Not processing at correct wci-- lid of jar when lbs. tcuiieraiurc. In pressure cooker-1or 210 degrees F. 1. failed to It'S I pressure cooker. 2. Failed to exhaust pres sure cooker 10 minutes after full flow of steam from petcoek. 3. Failed to make adjustment from elevation. 4. Failed to keep pressure accurate less than 10 lbs. will not complete sterilization of bacteria in vegetables and meats. In Boiling Water Bath. 1. Not having water at roiling boil when jar is placed in canner. 2. Not having water 1 H or more above lop of all jars throughout entire processing tune. 3. Not keeping water at rolling boil entire processing time. 4. Not checking time table carefully for product being canned. 5. Not making adjustment for elevation adding minutes for each 1,000 feel as instructed on time tables. In open kettle method. 1. Failed to fill one jar at time with boiling products and seal it. Filling several jars at one lime allows food to cool before rap is put on. Not enough heal left to create vacuum when jar is capped. 2. Removed kettle from heal while filling jars. Product does not stay at boiling point. Product put in last jars practically cold. 3. Improper cooling of jars after proressin is finished. Failed to lake jars out of cooker when gauge is 0 degrees. Reasons for loss of liquid during processing. Vegetables, 1. Parking food too tight in jar. 2. Filling jars too full. 3. Too high pressure. 4. Fluctuation in pressure. 5. Sudden lowering of pressure. 6. Leakage of steam at petcoek or around lid of pressure cooker. 7. Opening petcoek before guage returns to zero. Note: If jar is loo full, product will boil over and start a siphoning. Leaving Vi inch head space at top gives room for product to boil and not boil over. Fruits, 1. Filling jars to full. Cold Pack (fruit packed raw in jar), a. Fruit to withwithin Vi inch of top. b. Syrup-tin 1 Vi inch of top. Hot Pack (Fruit precooked in syrup) a. Fruit- - Vi inch of top. b. Syrup, Vi inch of top. Note: Cold pack fruit must have 1 Vi inch of space for syrup-frui- t juice cooks out of fruit, and fills jar with liquid (fruit juice and syrup).
