Dullsville doesn't exist anymore. Communities that existed for unknown reasons became dull and began to die. They joined the dodo bird. Dullsville or boredom is the result of loo much apathy. When apathy exists too long, atrophy sets in. Things shrink, then slowly fkde away. Boredom is preceded by laziness. Laziness is preceded by the loss of desire and having everything presented on a silver platter. Bored people have only themselves to blame. The answer to bordom, apathy and alive. Do atophy is Get Active-cosomething about the things that bother or bore you. You can get the action you want at your chamber of commerce. Get involved. . We were pleased with the turn out at our last chamber of commerce meeting. It was held at noon last Thursday. Bottle Hollow catered the light lunch to approximately 25 members and guests. Loya Gardner, new public relations person for Bottle Hollow was also introduced. Dick Asher, purchasing agent for Zions Bank was also en-- t reduced as a guest. Jim Peltier, Manager of Bottle Hollow, presented a brief explanation of the new expansion plans and showed floor plans of the proposed convention center expansion of the facilities. We enjoyed s tour of the new bank facilities by Ed Riggs, Manager. I want to compliment the officials of Zions for the lovely new facility which they have provided. Certainly makes an added improvement to main street. I remember when I first moved to town the old Shurtliff Hotel stood on that corner. As I remember it. it reminded me of those hotels you see on movie sets, with people sitting on the front porch, etc. It is really an attractive addition to our main-stree- t. We appreciate the use of the e room facilities where we will be having our future chamber meetings on the first and third Thursdays of each month at noon. Mark your calendars for those dates and join the bunch for lunch at chamber meetings. I might take this opportunity to express our thanks to Moon Lake Electric for the use of their fine facilities in the past. I am sure we will have occasion to use them again in the future. We have appreciated their cooperation and support. It is real great to have organizations that are public minded, both the bank and Moon Lake provide facilities for public use and no cost. Which is fine. Bike riding is lots of fun and can be very invigorating. But!!! Somebody's gonna get smashed! And the poor driver of the car will probably get the blame. Come on gang, keep those bikes out of the middle of main street and off the highway to Indian Canyon. There's plenty of room along the sides of the streets to ride on and its 100 safer. Maybe a substantial fine or an impounded bicycle would help everyone to remember that the streets are for cars, not bikes! At the same time we may save some poor kid from spending the rest of the summer in a hospital bed. Anyone who attended the Easter Egg hunt Saturday will surely agree that it was a complete success. The entire park was a mass of brightly colored eggs and little Easter Egg hunters. Several eggs were marked with numbers and the lucky finder was the proud winner of a big chocolate bunny. Our thanks to John Shumway, Duchesne Drug; Donna Mezenen, Lee's Motel and Mike Floyd, Kohl's Store for all the work and time they spent planning and producing this activity for the kids. There were many donations supporting this function which were greatly appreciated and a special thanks goes out to Glen Squires. Duchesne Equipment Co., for his more than generous support. Let's talk a minute about donations. We realize that this has become an ugly word to all of our merchants, because every time there is a function or happening in town that needs some extra funds. ZAP!! the merchants are supplying the funds. The Chamber of Commerce has set their sights to pull away from this type of thing, and plans to use some fund raising ideas to support further functions. Every dime you have donated has been deeply appreciated and we hope through our efforts to complete and have success with our projects you will feel that ours has been a worthy cause. Time to get the ol' auto out of that winter coat? Well, I'm proud to announce that you can swab it off in style at the new car wash. Clyde Coon, Roosevelt, is the owner and operator of Duchesne's newest business and the Chamber of Commerce is most pleased to welcome Mr. Coon and his much needed new business to Duchesne.
