V Among others, he talked with Mr. Rowan Gaither who was at that time President of the Ford Foundation. I had long known what was said at this conference, but some years ago I asked Mr. Dodd to write me a letter setting forth the significant statements as nearly as he could remember them. From a letter which Mr. Dodd wrote to me dated September 29, 1962. I quote the following paragraph of an astonishing statement made to Mr. Dodd by Mr. Gaither: Most of us here were, at one time or another, active in either the O.S.S. (Office of Strategic Services ), the State tax-exem- pt . Department, or the European Economic Administration. During those times, and without exception, we operated under directives issued by the White House, the substance of which was to the effect that we should make every effort to so alter life in the United States as to make possible a comfortable merger with the Soviet Union. "We are continuing to be guided by just such directives." "To this statement Mr. Dodd replied: "Mr. Gaither, in the light of what you have just told me, the grants of the Foundation become understandable." "Mr. Dodd then stated that he thought the Ford Foundation was under obligation to inform the American public of the directives under which it was operating. "To this Mr. Gaither replied: "This we would not think of doing." Stalin's Directive' "Here is the tale that was related to me many years ago by Sherman Rogers who followed Theodore Roosevelt as Editor of THE OUTLOOK. In 1928, Stalin, the dictator of the U.S.S.R., invited William C. Foster, at that time Chairman of the Communist Party in America, to visit him in Moscow. In those days Sherman Rogers, who later became a staunch conservative, was a close friend of William Foster. Upon his return from Moscow. Foster, speaking to Sherman Rogers, quoted Stalin as follows: "Comrade Foster, you can never get the American people to vote for Communism, or even for Socialism, but you can lead them into our program through the back door. "Go home and say that you support the present system, but that you wish to improve it by more government action on behalf of needy people. Take your stand for anything that will involve government more deeply in the regulation and control of the activities of men. Stand for municipal ownership of utilities, government aid for people, more subsidies of all kinds, stricter regulation by such government bodies as the Interstate Commerce Commission, the Federal Trade Commission and any municipal, state or federal plan for any kind of intervention with the economic activities of the people. In this way you can bring America into Communism and the people will never know it." The recent trend toward Socialism by American educators is indicated by the Gallup Poll taken in 1975. One check is indicative of the trend found. For instance, the high school students affirmed their belief that corporate profits in America were 35 percent of sales. College students affirmed 45 percent. Fact is, corporate profits for American industry have never, in 30 years, averaged above 6 percent. Somebody is doing a masterful job deceiving and misinforming American youth. TRAGEDY AND That masterful recent 1,300 page book HOPE by Carroll Quigley affirms that America's elite is purposely leading the nation into Socialism. What would explain this apparently organized trend, with the aid of the media, and the toleration, if not aid of government, unless there be another secret document counTop Secret termanding the recommendations of the Document." These same sources also make clear the fact that Russia considers America the one real obstacle in her way. Were it not for America she would feel at liberty to attack any other nation and to rapidly expand her world influence. America offers the one hope of preventing the development of a Communist world and accordingly; America is considered by Russia as her Number One enemy. She stands in the way of Russias chief world Communism. goal Therefore, America should, by all means, be strengthening her armaments because Russia recognizes only strength. A weak America cannot successfully negotiate with Russia. If America is even to survive itself, much less defend the rest of the free world, then she must rapidly build increased strength. Social programs are important in any country. They now have been carried much further in America than they have ever been carried by this nation. Those however, for whom the social programs are designated, cannot defend the nation against Russia. Of what value are our social gains if we are shortly to fall under the domination of such a dictatorship as Communism presents. The biggest debt we owe the poor in America is protection against advancing Communism. Private enterprise has been the source of Americas great productivity. Private enterprise must be preserved and must be in a healthy condition if America is going to to the degree she need not fear Russian attack. Therefore, our government should be encouraging private enterprise and making clear to the entire population the strategic service that private enterprise has rendered in the development of the nation and in the winning of its world wars. The expansion of crime, the very high level of taxation, the of business and big increase of inflation, the industry, the diminishing of capital, the national debt of over $600 billion, and the huge debts totaling more than a trillion dollars resting on the shoulders of private enterprise in its attempt to meet its responsibilities and expand its production are all working against the best interests of the nation and tending to prepare our people for the acceptance of over-regulati- 10 for $ 2.00 25 for $ 4.00 50 for $ 1.00 100 for $ 12.00 1000 for $10.00 can stand brute force, but brute reason is quite is There unbearable. something unfair about its use.
