The dark heart of the camdispaign is the nation-wid- e tribution and promotion of the blasphemous film. The Passover Plot. This explosive movie is based1 on a book by the same name by Dr. Hugh J. Schonfield, a scripture scholar and promoter of world government. The objective of the campaign and the film is to use the mass media and entertainment industry to strike at the very foundation of the Christian religion by portraying Christ only as a man and not God. As one Washington-base- d reviewer reports: The Passover Plot is not just another film telling of the greatest story ever told. In this version Jesus is neither a superstar nor a king of kings. He is a streetwise agitator dedicated to expelling the Romans and restoring Jewish morality, and he orchestrates his own crucifixion with the calculated aim of attaining martyrdom. Schonfield contends that Jesus ordered Judas to betray him, believing that only a dramatic crucifixion could win him immortality. .As in Schonfields book, Christs miracles are debunked in' the film. An example: restoration of sight to the blind beggar shows the beggar to be a thief feigning blindness to facilitate his filching. Jesus spits in his face, the surprised man opens his eyes, and the disciples portrayed somewhat like primitive publicity men race about town proclaiming a miracle." This is the sort of blasphemy and fiction that permeates the whole film, according to the Mindszenty Foundation, of St. Louis, Missouri, which is gathering information on the campaign. anti-Chri- st The m religious-freedo- oriented private foundation along with Philaret, Metropolitan President of the Synod of Bishops of Russian Orthodox Church, outside of Russia, is leading the opposition to the showing of the film and urging a nation-wid- e boycott Christians.' all by In its widely circulated monthly report, the Mindszenty Foundation charges that in the film the entire redemptive act is turned into a conspiracy to overthrow the rule of the Roman Empire with Christ the revolutionary in full command." THE THEME CONSPIRACY This shocking portrayal of Christs life and mission, which a few years ago would never have been permitted on the screen, is now boldly proclaimed in Continued on page 4 Dan Smoot, in an article in the May 7, 1975, issue of the REVIEW OF THE NEWS listed the following points made by Dr. John J. The following brief treatise is based the experiences of the writer during the last fifty years after having read the literature of the Progressives, attended their classes in college, talked with some of them, listened to them, observed them, and participated with them some of their conventions. It is also based upon the writers experiences as a high school teacher, high school principal, as- - sistant superintendent, and superintendent of schools in a rather large school district; and also upon visits and observations and evaluations made in a number of other school districts. Since the ratio of automobiles in the northern and southern hemisphere is 9:1 respectively, it .was expected that the northern hemisphere measurements would show a much higher concentration of atmospheric carbon monoxide. The true measurements show, however, that there is no difference in CO (carbon monoxide) amounts between the hemispheres and that the overall concentration of CO in the air is not increasing at all. In fact, they've found higher concentrations of CO over the Atlantic 395 Concord Ave., Belmont, Mass. 02178 philosophy of education It is really a philosophies. Ralph de Toledano in a column published in THE NEWS of Lynchburg, Va., on April 1, 1975, revealed: "EPA has submitted three reports on the dangers to health of lead in gasoline. Two were withdrawn for their inaccuracies and propagandi Stic distortions after they were cut to . pieces by the scientific community. The third was described by EPA itself as being 'in no sense.. .an unbiased document.' " The EPAs orders to remove lead from car exhausts have already cost the nation billions of dollars, have wasted millions of barrels of crude oil, and will cost and waste more in the future. There was, for example, the cost to oil companies passed onandto all consumers of tooling equipping refineries to produce unleaded gasoline, plus the higher cost of the refining process' after the plants were made ready to do the job. In ordering oil companies to get lead out, EPA also ordered them to keep octane ratings up. This requires a more expensive refining process, and produces fewer gallons of gasoline per barrel of crude oil. Dr. McKetta of the University of Texas says Continued on page 6 |
