Kershner Marxist Propaganda in United Nations In its magazine, Development Forum, the United Nations continues it blatant campaign to destroy free enterprise and substitute a managed economy, alias socialism or communism. As a typical example of this propaganda, we quote the following from an article on joint stock companies by Shann Turnbull in the May, 1976 issue: We like to receive Letters To The Editor. Frequently, however, these letters are much too long for us to use. For this reason, we are adopting the following policy: Letters To The Editor 1, or should be typed (double-spacewritten legibly on one side of an 8!$xl 1 sheet of paper. 2. We will publish these letters regularly as space permits. We appreciate the fact that some subjects require more length. In such instances they should be submitted as News Articles and will be subject to our regular editorial policies and current d) needs. News items Must Be Fully Documented. We want to print ONLY THE TRUTH! Many thanks. THE EDITOR Sorry we cannot print your requests for funds. MORE ON GUN CONTROL In fact, profits are not going to the people who deserve them and, because of the increasing lack of competition, those profits have become, over a jjeriod of time, virtually unlimited for those who own the companies. Hence the present situation in the Third World and the developed countries is in flat contradiction to the original rationale for the system which, it was hoped, would bring the fruits of the market economy to all, and not just to a privileged few. And hence an economic system has evolved which is described as inequitable, inefficient, inflationary and insensitive. . . . How can rules be written to eradicate the built-i- n defects of present private property systems, bring about a new economic order based on fair shares for all, and redistribute wealth on a practical, equitable basis? Let us take a sharp look at the above. We are told that profits are not going to the people who deserve them. Who deserves the profits of the American industry? It is not those who save the money and are willing to risk it on new and untried ventures? They are the ones who get the profits, and who else has as good a title to them? The author speaks of the lack of competition. Tell that to the oil companies, the airlines, the steel companies and practically all the units of American business. All of them are under keen hard competition. The author says that profits have become virtually unlimited for those who own the companies. But the four to five percent profit of the average American company seems to be unlimited on the down side, not the up side. The author says our free enterprise system was intended to bring the fruits of the market economy to all, and not just to a privileged few. We ask the author to name a country anywhere in the world, past or present, that has distributed the product of industry as widely and as thoroughly as has the free market system in the United States. It may not be perfect but it is far better than we find in Cuba, Russia, China, India or elsewhere. When a system has succeeded better than any other, why clobber it and seek to change to something that has not done nearly so well? It may be inequitable, inefficient, inflationary and insensitive, but even so, it is the most bountiful. Im sending you thirty pieces of silver. " Reportedly Congressman Phil Crane of Illinois, one of the. most conservative lawmakers on Capitol Hill and a staunch backer of Ronald Reagan, orally scourged Reagan on the telephone after hearing Senator leftist that be would Schweiker Reagans running-mat- e. Why all the excitement, merely because Schweiker is slightly to the left of Gus Hall and Fritz Mondale? So whats new? Havent the Republicans proclaimed, at least ever since William Rusher other and responsible proclaimed conservatives helped ax Robert Taft in favor of a g General, that we have a party big enough for everybody - come on in under our umbrella. know-nothin- Dear Friend: As you may already know, some new developments have taken place on the gun control front which place our Second Amendment rights in serious peril. The City Council of the District of Columbia has enacted firearms legislation which is so strict and so far reaching that even New York City must be green with envy. Not only would it ban the sale and manufacture of handguns, but more importantly, it would otherwise treat handguns and longarms in exactly the same way the same annual registration requirements, the same restrictions on their presence in the home, etc., etc. The bill is, in other word?, far more than just Saturday Night Special legislation (which is bad enough!), but is a total, broad brush attack on the rights of private citizens to own any kind of firearm. If allowed to stand, this would become a major precedent in the gun control field. The significance of these recent events cannot be overemphasized. Obviously, if this kind of radical legislation can be made to stick in the capital city of the nation, it will act as a convenient springboard for national legislation. Advocates of the bill candidly admit that this is their aim. The plan is to make the D.C. bill a model for the whole country. Yet there is hope much hope. Congress has the responsibility to review this legislation and the full authority to nullify it if it chooses. This would have to be accomplished in the prescribed time period, ending around mid-Septemb- er. Continued on page 3 S-- TOM ANDERSON POLICY NOTICE Dedicated To The , Thus the Republican Party is big enough for Senator Helms (or is it?) and Senator Javits. Senator Javits ought to join, openly, Comrat Gus Hall, with whom he has more in common. I wont belabor what the Democrat Party is, as ever taken whos everybody just one smart pill already knows. The main point is that switching from Gerald Ford to Ronald Reagan is like getting a divorce and getting custody of your parents. ex-wif- es MAKE IT UNANIMOUS One reason many members of Congress are retiring is not so much because each of them also has a Girl Friday who cant type, but because they have stolen financial security from the taxpayers. For instance. House Speaker Carl Albert, who doubtless couldnt pass a saliva test in order to make a job application, will retire on a S5I,000 .pension. Senate Majority Leader Mansfield and Minority Leader Good Gulf Scott will take you for lifetime payments of S4 1,000. Double-digi- t inflation? Why should they worry? Their income is geared to the economy. If we get 500',?inflation, more 500 theyll get Therefore I have introduced H.Res. 1447 and H.Con.Res. 694, Resolutions of Disapproval to the D.C. Firearms Act.
