Kershner Report from East and West Germany Mr. William . Dannemeyer of California is a good friend of ANSWERS. He sends us an interesting article comparing capitalism with socialism as he observed them in a recent tour through West and East Germany. As one would expect, there is a striking difference between the high standard of living in West Germany and the scarcities and inconveniences of East Germany. Even so, East Germany is doing far better than any other Communist country. It has not yet squandered the heritage developed under the freedom that formerly editorial policies and current needs. News items Must Be Fully Documented. . We want to print ONLY THE TRUTH! Many thanks. Sorry we cannot print your requests for funds.- FREEDOM OF THE PRESS" Mr. John Chancellor NBC, New York, N.Y. 10020 existed. Mr. Dannemeyer found pornographic literature in greater abundance in West Germany than in East Germany. From this he properly draws the lesson that freedom depends on voluntary acceptance of the moral law. Only moral men can be free, and if men are unwilling to accept the discipline of observing it, their freedom will be short-liveAt the same time, Mr. the Dannemeyer points out grave danger of a system where the moral law is fixed by the State. In Communist lands, for instance, the Party determines what is right or wrong. Men no longer look to the sacred writings, the saints, the prophets, and the seers, but must accept the decision of the Party as the only means of distinguishing right from wrong. Mr. Dannemeyer points to another weakness in the free countries the willingness of officials to do the popular thing lather than the right thing. Referring to America, he says, for instance, Unemployment in this country is too high at the present time, particularly among the minority teenagers. Before we condemn capitalism for creating this condition, we should recognize that it is a part of our national policy. We have exported hundreds of thousands of jobs to foreign lands such as Mexico, Taiwan, Singapore, and Korea, through the existence of a minimum wage. Thousands of jobs go unfilled in this country because social programs exist which deter people who are out of work from moving to another part of the country, entering a different Dear Mr. Chancellor: You and NBC have certainly milked Mexico's gutsy opinion, Zionism is Racism, by repeatedly telling us of the drop in Mexicos tourism. It is obvious to many, many citizens that the news media is controlled by forces , so how ridiculous to try to lead people to believe the Jewish boycott is 100 successful. There are, you know, people other than those of Jewish extraction who have money and do travel and who support Mexicos stand. Give a man enough rope and he will hang himself. This time the controlled media went overboard and revealed its racism and persecution of Mexico. With NBC, Freedom of the d. At the commission meeting a petition was presented to commissioners containing 21 ,000 names of people opposed to pornography in this city and county area. Films are scheduled for each Sunday afternoon at 2:00 beginning on January 25. All of these lectures and films should be attended by at least some of our readers. Panelists are Judith Krug, Director, Intellectual Freedom Office, American Library Association; Victor Cline, Ph.D. a University of Utah psychologist who knows the ill effects of pornography; Milton Voight, Professor of English at the University; and Sam Weller, owner of Zion Book Store in Salt Lake Gty. Box 844, Anderson, California 96007, has published a cartoon booklet called, The Gay Revolution, The War Against God. Lockman cites at least 14 Biblical references which show Gods condemnation of homosexuality. Booklets can be obtained directly from lockman for 10c each (less in quantity lots.). You may rest assured that no matter how tasteful and direct the librarys film may be, the showing of it without adverse comment will give favorable status to this perversion. SCHEDULES The schedule booklets for the library lecture and film series can be obtained at the offices of Utah Endowment for the Humanities at 10 West Broadway. If you go in person to the Amoco Building at 1 0 West Broadway, you can get the room number of Utah Endowment from the building directory. In the meantime, I have asked Mr. Robert Weyher of Utahns Against Pornography and Mr. Victor Cline to request previews of the film on Consenting Adults. It is ironical that groups and individuals are fighting the flood of obscenity invading the state while publicly funded Salt Lake City Library and publicly funded ltah Endowment for the Humanities arc sponsoring what appears to be obscenity. This series along with filth in textbooks, previously exposed by Mrs. E. J. Christensen, seem to be a quiet implementation of Humanist Manifesto II. Do you have time to join this fight? |
