Kershner The Editor. Frequently, however, these letters are much too long for us to use. For this reason, we are adopting the following policy: 1. Letters To The Editor should be typed (double-spaceor written legibly on one side of an 8'Axl 1 sheet of paper. 2. We will publish these letters regularly as space permits. We appreciate the fact that some subjects require more length. In. such instances they should be submitted as News Articles and Regimentation will regiments a total of 74,000 men and women are engaged in regulating the people. That is, telling them what they may and may not do, and then seeing that they do it or dont do it. They legislate, they enforce, they judge and they punish. These regulators are scattered all through government. They are in the Departments of Agriculture, Labor, Treasury', Interior, Transportation and in a great many of the independent agencies such as Environmental Protection Agency, Food and Drug Administration, Federal Energy Administration, National Labor Relations Board, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Securities and Exchange Commission, Interstate Commerce Commission, Federal Communications Commission, Federal Trade Commission, Federal Power Commission and many more. They have almost regulated the railroads out of business telling them what trains they could operate, the number of people that must be employed on each train, the rates they could charge, the stations and branch lines they must operate and ten thousand more, including the fact that they must pay their striking employees a large percentage of their normal pay. Striking railroad employees may now draw more than $24 a and in addition be eligible for food stamps day, and other benefits. Trucks often must return to their starting point empty when they should be carrying a load each way. No one can estimate the loss to the American people of such regulations. According to the General Accounting Office the Land-Us- e regulations results in a loss of more than 6 billion board feet of mature lumber in our National forest every year. The timber dies because Federal regulations delay or prevent its harvest. The U. S. News nd World Report for June 30, 1975, reported that consumer product safety regulations increased the cost of a $100 lawnmower to $186 and that many small businesses are in danger of collapsing. Meanwhile, rules and regulations having the force of law are growing much faster than business itself. The ICC now presides over the enforcement of 40 Seventy-fou- r be subject to our regular policies and current needs. News items Must Be Fully Documented. We want to print ONLY THE TRUTH! Now Dr. Evans is no ordinary man. He has been where the action is; he is a deep thinker and a brilliant writer and hes ON OUR SIDE! With the publishers permission, I quote part of his introduction: This book) is for those who still think that what Thomas Paine wrote in 1776 in Common Sense is common sensefGovemment.even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one. It is for those who see that the government of our country which under the constitution as written could approach the best state, approaches under the present Establishment the worst state, and is becoming intolerable. The theme of this book is that tax-fre- e, J Scientists d) the headline Space City, says. And the exciting story goes on to say that the suggested space city, half way between here and the moon, would accomodate 10,000 people. The air would be pure, the water clean, and the sun would be . always shining. The brilliant scholars who envisage this phenomenon say it would cost only $100 billion, and it could transmit solar energy to earth 24 hours a day and quickly construct new colonies cheaply by mining abundant aluminum silicon, and oxygen from the moon. . The space city would look like a mile-wid- e wheel, with 10,000 inhabitants living in its outer rim in densities of about sixty persons per square acre. You could fly two 747s around inside said one of the scientists, and food enough for all the inhabitants would be grown on 111 acres, with crops bathed 1 (First) (Mddle (Number And Street) L: (City? nr mam (State) continuous and a citizen then, with taxes say stop the top, I want to get off?) Oh yes, the space city would have an abundant supply of 100 pure water which would be scientifically recycled from sewage. (So whats new?) o Im as excited as Justice Douglas must have been- on - honeymoon. The is plan so so simple and yet so practical, that I cant help being a little bit jealous. For many years ago, I sacrificially gave the world, free, the stupendous story of farmer Orville, who had discovered something even more important than perpetual motion: perpetual food, free. Heres the incredible story of scientist Orville, who should have won a Pewlitzer prize but didnt, mind-bogglin- g, possibly because he was so far ahead of his time: Once upon a time there was a farmer named Orville who lived in a little FHA Continued on page 4 says abortion is bad, but SIGNED the abortion bill while governor.
