You elected officials need to be reminded you took an oath (maybe with your fingers crossed) to uphold the Constitution of the United States. The Second of said Constitution Amendment states: ...the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. So either abide by the Constitution or admit you are one of those Americans who would sell our country out to the Communists. Dear Editor: There has been many changes in the United States since the birth of our nation. America two hundred years ago looks primitive compared to the advancement in technology we have today. But where America has risen out of one dark age. it has sunk in much more. In plain sight all around us it is easy to, see we are slowly being conditioned to the lowering of our morals. We hear the propaganda that society is the fault of assault, rape, And 'the crime and murder. percentage of these things will be down in years to come because those babies born today are wanted. It is this kind of sick thinking that is helping to bring about these things, and the murder of the unborn. For these arc all signs of a growing darkness in America, an unawareness of our Father in As Thomas Jefferson Heaven. said. Indeed. I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is ON COURSE with Capt. Joe H. Ferguson O.S.H.A INSPECTOR A BUG EXPERT Captain Joe H. Ferguson A BUGGY APPROACH TO SAFETY Many stories about O.S.H.A. safety experts have come to light since the inception of the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Many of these would be hilarious if they were not so disastrous in their effect upon American business. For those who might not have been stepped on by the heavy boot of the OSTtApo, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is a huge federal agency which was created ostensibly to enhance safe working conditions for the American employees. But while statistics fail to prove that this army of bureaucrats has made it any safer to be an employee, they have certainly made it dangerous to be an employer. The American employer now is responsible for understanding and complying with a mountain of vague regulations regarding his operation and is also subject to fines when he is found in violation. Of course, if O.S.H.A. were actually designed to enhance safety, and if it were actually doing so. and if it respected the constitutional rights of the American employers, there would be few complaints. One of the many preposterous assumptions made by O.S.H.A. is that each and every one of its inspectors are more competent to make decisions regarding safety for a particular operation than is the owner of that business. One good example came to light when this writer was debating two O.S.H.A. inspectors on a radio station in Albuquerque recently. A listener called in and asked one of the inspectors why he presumed that he was more qualified to decide on matters of safety than was the owner of the businesses that he inspected. The reply was that the inspector had a college degree. Upon further questioning, the inspector finally had to admit that the degree was in zoology and entomology! A BUG expert! This particular inspector had NEVER managed a business nor held down a responsible job. He had received his degree as a bug expert and immediately gone to work for the government. Yet, he travels around the New Mexico area dictating to business owners who have operated for years without accidents how to operate their businesses. Small wonder the American businessman is getting disgusted with trying to operate a business. And small wonder that the cost of production and consequently the costs of goods has risen so rapidly on-the-s- we get a higher percentage of sensible congressmen in Washington who will start trimming down some of these huge bureaucracies, a real good place to begin will be with O.S.H.A.!
