Vice-Presiden- Scouts enjoy vacation in Yellowstone Troop III left Monday morning for Yellowstone National Park. The Super Event was a reward for boys achieving their first class advancement. Scoutmaster Denton Barschi accompanied Paul Bartschi, Darrell Garbett, William Madsen, Kurt Mogensen and Tyce Palmer. The boys left Monday morning; drove Boy Scout through Logan Canyon, Bear Lake, Montpelier and Starr Valley. They camped in Etna Canyon. While at Yellowstone, they saw all the points of interest, including Old Faithful and the Mud Pots, Yellowstone Falls and Mammoth Hot Springs. They didnt see any bears, but they did see some moose and buffalo. They had a good trip and returned home Saturday morning. On Saturday, July 30, 1977 the Eureka Cub Scouts, along with 200 other scouts from the Region, had a fun time at Cub Scout Day Camp in Hobble Creek Canyon. Over 18 boys, ages 8, 9 and 10 years, went for a day of fua Their next trip will be out west for some good learning on conservation. More about that later. Mining museum t; Ambulance group discusses funding regular meeting of the Eureka was held with President Janice Monday evening, A Ambulance Association Boswell presiding. She introduced Del Sperry, Emergency Operations Coordinator of ambulances and equipment. Secretary Arthur Long read a report of the meeting held at Snow College on July 26, for the Six County Planning Group EMTs. Attending the meeting were Mundi Pederson, Max Wahlberg and Arthur Long. Among subjects discussed at the meeting, was recertification schedules for EMTs. A list of needed supplies for the ambulance was then compiled. A few questions arose and were discussed concerning legal problems and responsibilities. A report of ambulance runs since the last meeting showed three, plus some minor injury treatment at the motocross Pioneer Day Celebration. Much information dealing with EMT classes, funding, and regulations were discussed with Mr. Sperry. A check list of required equipment for the ambulance was checked and it was found that the ambulance is In attendance at the meeting were County Commissioner Ted Johnson, Janice Boswell, Kathy Sparrow, Joe Bernini, Stormy Allinson, Mundi Pederson, Arthur Long, Max Wahlberg, and Barry Franks. The next meeting is scheduled for well-balance- d. Monday, August 15. The Tintic Historical Society is extending a special invitation to all of our local friends and neighbors to stop by the Tintic Mining Museum on Saturday or Sunday, between 3 and 5 p.m. We have some new displays that very few local people have seen. We try to keep something new going on, so even if you have been to the mining museum before, plan to pay us another visit. The flag, featuring 45 stars, is on still display, along with a stereoviewer that dates back to 1899. We have some posters of Mammoth 5 era. during the Mr. Glen Westergard of Provo has donated three old chairs to the Tintic Mining Museum. He said they originally came from the Eureka Area and felt they should be returned. inu-resun- g 1910-191- Demo convention set August 13 The 1977 Democratic State is scheduled to Convention Organizing be held on Saturday, August 13 at the Terrace Ballroom in Salt Lake City, beginning at 1 p.m. Registration of State Delegates will begin at noon. Elected as delegates from Juab County at the County Convention were Milton Harmon, Robert Painter, Elgin Gardner, Vard White, Sharia Williams, Madge Newton, Joseph Bernini, Sylvia Campbell, and Mel Hansen. Registering the Delegates from Juab County will be Mrs. Cleo Judge. that Governor Scott Matheson had okayed $141,000 in emergency water relief funds out of the $500,000 recently appropriated by the Utah Legislature. The allocation of $141,000 in emergency water relief funds will go to four Utah cities and Eureka is one of the four. Eureka will get $40,000 toward the cost of drilling an unusually deep well, about 1,500 feet, that a state geologist e thinks will produce an abundant long-rang- water for the comcity wells are now supply of munity. The producing 70 gallons a minute for 270 connections, but yield is diminishing. The news of this grant is certainly music to the ears" to the people of our community and Mayor Code is to be commended for his diligent work on our behalf. To further brighten the outlook concerning our water situation, this grant is in addition to $50,000 allocated to Eureka through the Economic Development District. These public works funds will be used to six-coun- improve ty Eurekas culinary water system, with the possibility of installing a new main transmission line. Utah County Fair board sets celebration for Parade ofthe Cities The first PARADE OF THE CITIES will be a highlight of the 1977 Utah County Fair in Spanish Fork this month. The giant parade will start at 6 p.m. Thursday August 18th. The innovative format will feature the cities of Utah County displaying their individual contributions to the fair theme The Bounty of Utah County. Leading the parade will be the Grand Marshall, possibly Governor Scott Utah County ComMatheson, State Congressmen, Utah missioners, Utah County Fair Board members, and other state and county officials. Representing Utah County will be the Utah County float with Queen Mary Ann Miller and her attendents Becky Meyers and Natalie Beck. On horseback will be the 1977 Utah County Fair Rodeo Royalty Queen Debra Wilkins and her attendents Barbara Christensen and Ronda Lew is they will be escorted by Gerald Bringhurst of the Utah County Fair Board. The county will also be represented by the Utah County Sheriff Posse among other entries. The parade will continue with the 18 cities of the county, in alphabetical order, each following a banner composed of their city colors. City units may include: city omcials, city floats, city queens and royalty, school bands, senior citizen groups, riding clubs, groups, selected commercial entries and any other entries that spotlight that 4-- H city. After the cities the unincorporated areas of the county have been invited to participate, such as, Sundance and Benjamin. They will be followed by entries from outside the county. Scattered throughout the parade will be entries depicting special events and displays being held at the fair. Wolfman Jim will exhibit the cougar from his Wild Animal Kingdom which is a feature attraction at the Main Exhibit Area of the fair. Animal trainer Bob Pratt from the Hogle Zoo will ride with Chip the Chimpanzee. Bob and Chip will perform at 4 p.m. prior to the parade at the Spanish Fork City Library concluding the Senior Citizen Fun Day activities being held there and after the parade at the Main Exhibit Area. Friday (Kids Day) will include performances by Bob and Chip at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. at the Main Exhibit area. Rodeo intermission singing stars La Costa and Sunday Sharpe may be riding the Chapparals float The Chapparals a popular local western band will provide the backing for Thursday nights rodeo intermission program with Sunday Sharpe and they will also provide the entertainment each night rated western vocalist the rodeo intermission both Friday and Saturday nights. pre-rode-o La Costa top will perform at Riding clubs and the various Rodeo Queens from throughout the county have been invited to ride in both the Parade of the Cities and the Grand Entry on Thursday opening night of the Rodeo. All or individuals, groups organizations that might like to participate in the Parade of the Cities are invited and encouraged to contact their city officials or the Utah County Fair Office, 373-55- 10 ext 212. The Parade of the Cities committee includes A1 Sigma n, chairman, Jerry Wood, state and county dignitaries, Gene Carley, incorporated cities, Lola Bringhurst, city banners and unin- corporated cities and Don Forsyth, coordinator and special events.
