About 2,000 troops, mostly from the 19th Special Forces Group will conduct Green Beret" operations at Camp W. G. Williams, Jordan Narrows, and at Mt. Pleasant. Along with two Special Forces companies from the Utah National Guard will be Company C from Montana, Company D from Rhode Island, Company E from New York and from H Company Colorado. Seven babies were blessed: Candants Marie Long, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Long; Jennifer Ann Jordon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glade Jordan of Elko, Nevada; Lee Ann Long, daughter of Victor and Melba Long of Goshen; Troy Jordan Lamb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ren Lamb of Heber, Sandy Lynn Smith, daughter and son, Renton, of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Smith; Denise Perry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Perry. The first four named were blessed by Arthur Long, and the Smith Daughter and son were blessed by their father. The closing prayer was given by Bishop Garbett. combat training begins with organization of detachments and of aggressor airlifting guerrillas. During the camp two jumpmaster courses will be given to advanced parachutists. A highlight of the training comes this week when a detachment is parachutes onto the summit of the Manti-LaSNational Forest range al 10,5000 feet above sea level. It is thought to be the highest altitude attempted for this type of operation. Sterling Chatwin services held L. Chatwin, 69, a of Harold Chatwin of brother Sterling Eureka, died August 6, 1972 in Salt Lake at his home of a heart attack. He was born July 13, 1903, in Goshen to Lawrence and Mary Jane Herbert Chatwin. He married Laura Cooper, March 16, 1927 in Salt Lake, in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a retired foremen of Utah Power & Light Company, and a member of the LDS Church. Survivors are his widow; son and daughter, Larry, North Bend, Oregon; Mrs. Corrine Philips, Jacksonville, Florida; 4 brothers, grandchildren; Gilbert, Dearfield, Michigan; Harold, Eureka; George Davis, Payson; Lee Davis, Springville. Funeral services were held Thursday in the Grant 7th Ward LDS Chapel. Burial was in Wildlife board meets Aug. 16 Benjamin, Utah County, cemetery. The Wildlife Board will meet August 16 at the Salt Lake office to determine this years upland game hunting seasons. St. 11. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Johnson and two sons, Lloyd and Paul returned home Sunday from a vacation spent in Montana. They visited with an aunt in Butte, and were house guests of her sister, and family, Mr. and Mrs. James Kaatz (Dalena Dean) at their home in Sheridan. They also attended a reunion of the Harry Dean family, which was held in Twin Bridges. Mont. There were over 30 family members attending the reunion. Mrs. Dan Sullivan of Salt Lake and duaghter and Mr. and Mrs. Don Tate of Tempe, Arizona were in town on Saturday visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Brennan Hannifin and family. Methodist Church A Lay Speaker will conduct the Sunday morning services at the Eureka Methodist Church, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Sunday School will be at 10:00 a.m. preceding the Church service, and will be under the direction of Supt. Alliene Farren. son-in-la- JOINS AIRFORCE Evans Long, son of Mrs. Rachael Hannifin, left Thuesday for Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. He graduated from Tintic High School in May, and enlisted in the Air Force soon after graduation. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hannifin accompanied him to the Salt Lake Airport. camp , Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cherry of Denver, Colorado, were in town last Thursday looking after business interests, and visiting with Mrs. Valene Livingston. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Willett and family left last Saturday for Salt Lake where they will make their home. We are sorry to lose the Willett family, but wish them well in their new surroundings. Sister Ella Rose of Boise, Idaho, is visiting here with here aunt, Mrs: William Wirthlin and Mayme, and with Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Sanderson. She has spent the summer at St. Marys in Notre Dame, Indiana, and was enroute to Boise, and stopped here for visiting with family members. Guests during the week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hansen were Mrs. Margaret Harmon of Anaheim. Calif; and her daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Parker and their daughter Susan, and son, Hank of Costa Mesa, Calif. son-in-la- w, Staff Sgt. and Mrs. Frank Walker and his parents, spent a couple of days last week at Fish Lake on a fishing trip. Ill at home Earl Naef is reported to be very ill at his home. He spent three months in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake and is now at his home here. His friends are wishing him the best in the way of a recovery. In town last Sunday for a short visit were Mr. and Mrs. Valene Livingston. |
