Mining Stock Review. Despite the fact that a holiday intervened in the week, the volume of business done on the Salt Lake Stock Exchange was above the average, wliile curb business was unusually heavy. The investment stocks appear to be in great demand, with the inquiries coming from the east, bat the movement lias not excluded the speculative stocks, many of which are meeting with much favor. A comparison of prices with the speculative stocks of other states shows the favor with which Utah mining shares are received. Holders of Anchor showed an inclination to let go, and some blocks changed hands at less than a dollar. There is a good demand for the stock, but it is at lower prices. At the close it was 90 cents bid, with the stock held easy. Ajax did some business at very low figures, but during the week recovered some of the ground that has been lost. It was actively bid for at the and a concentrator to replace the one destroyed by fire, is among the improvements contemplated. East Qolden Gate is regularly offered, but receives no attention. The Four Aces does not advance in the market as rapidly as was anticipated, and small blocks continue to change hands at prices under 20 cents. Galena is doing very little business and holders put a valuation of $1.80 on the stock. The mines continue their production of a grade of ore so choice that, regardless of the great distance from the smelters, the company is paying dividends. Geyser remains at about the previous weeks figures, and did no business. The improvements by which the capacity of the mill will be increased to 100 tons per day are nearly completed, but the increased tonnage will not be put into effect until the middle of January. In the interim the ores will be subjected to close at figures above last weeks selling price, ninety-si- x hours leaching instead of seventy-tw- o but holders as heretofore, and the result of the experiplaced their figure up. Silver King is receiving some k eutirely new ground, and this, with the ore flattering bids, but holders hold out for $18, the chute developed on the 900 level, and in another lowest figure the stock has been offered at in Part of the mine, gives the property ore six months. The impression was erroneous, however, as the shares offered were private stock. The stock was well received and was bid for at a figure that would place a valuation of nearly half a million on the property. Some active sparring is being indulged in for Omaha, the new favorite of the Mercur West Dip, but while bids of 20 cents were recorded, no stock changed hands. Following the closing of the Swansea books for the November dividend, which will be paid on December 10th, the stock receded a few points. Two dividends of 5 cents per share each will be paid in December, the second one failing due on Christmas eve. Northern Light did business at 50 cents and the stock is in good demand. The new mill is being delayed somewhat for the machinery, a great deal of which is now overdue. Dalton is coming into favor again on account of reports that the ledge had been rediscovered, and higher quotations on the stock are now the rule. Yankee Girl, an American Fork property, is now making regular appearances on the board and is freely bid for. d The stocks closed as follows : non-liste- $ ! . i |
