This list is incomplete, as many Utah mines have been and are now operated at great profit by individuals and close corporations that do not pubMsh their dividends. Twelve millions would be a conservative estimate of the amount of dividends paid by these mines. niNING STOCK REVIEW. The week in mining: stocks opened rather quiet and ended with increased activity, under the quickening influence of more favorable weather for mining operations. Many buying orders have been brought out during the past fewT days, and brokers are enjoying a brisk business. Mercur seems to be the favorite with outside investors, while there is a lively local demand for Mammoth, Galena, Sioux and some of the cheaper stocks. A period of settled weather and a general resumption of work in the hills will without doubt result in increased trading. The market on the whole has been well sustained during the week. While twro or three stocks have lost, others have made material gains. There wTas a lighter demand for Anchor, and the stock has sold at $2.30 2.35. Ajax was unchanged, and Annie and Alliance were inactive. Bullion-Bec- k was in good strong demand, and sold up to $7. The directors are expected to meet today and declare a dividend of 25 cents. The diamond drill is now in a distance of 460 feet, but no ore bodies have been encountered, and the ground will be prospected in other directions. Transfers of Brick Consolidated have been made the week at 60 cents. during Centennial-Eurek- a is held beyond the reach of buyers, although a few small blocks were transferred at $75 and above. The regular monthly dividend of $1 will be paid tomorrow. There have been some sales of Dalton & Lark at unchanged prices. The is its output and company increasing will distribute $12,500 among the stockholders tomorrow'. Daly wras in good was slightly demand, but Daly-We- st weaker. Eagle sold down several points during the week, and the lower prices induced buying. The Eagle is a very promising property and the stock is regarded by many as a fine investment at present prices. East Golden Gate remained at the low mark fixed last week, the slump being caused by the attempt to unload 30,000 shares held by outsiders. There has been no change in Four Aces, sales being made at about last weeks prices. The payment of the regular dividend by the Galena seems to have suddenly called attention to the mer 5-c- ent its of this stock, and it sold up to $1.95. Geyser was unchanged. There was little doing in Herschel and bids of $2.15 for Horn Silver brought out no stock. After sticking at the $3 point for two weeks, Mammoth seems to have started on another upward movement, and there is no telling where it will stop. Bids of $3.45 were made during the week. The knowledge that some of the directors have placed buying orders in the hands of their brokers has no doubt stimulated the demand. Recent explorations on the 800 level, and also upon the 1400, have greatly increased the tonnage of high-grad- e ore in sight. The winze from the 1300 to the 1400 is to be continued down to the 1500, and the main working shaft will soon be equipped with a 2000-fohoist. This will cost about $12,000, and as there is now $55,000 in the treasury the company is in shape to declare a dividend properties at Tintic, was also called, bringing out bids of 70c. The unlisted stocks closed as 4 CD CD Company. a V 400 8,500 ot 10-ce- at any time. nt A conservative course is likely to be pursued, however, and no dividends are expected until a larger surplus has accumu- lated. The resumption of dividends by the Mercur gave that stock an unexpected boost, and the advancing tendency is said to have sent the shorts scurrying to cover. The capacity of the mill has recently been increased by changes in the leaching methods, and there is not likely to be another interruption of dividends. Ontario and Silver King have been quiet, with few offerings. The Ontario mill was started up again last Saturday. Sioux Consolidated has taken a sudden spurt, and advanced to $2 in the bidding. There is nothing surprising in this, in view of the fine condition and steady output of the property, which, considering the low capitalization, make this a tempting investment. Sunshine has been neglected and quotations are unchanged. Utah paid its regular dividend of 2 cents per share on the 11th. Richmond-Anacond- a has again been most active of the unlisted stocks, the and there was considerable trading. Many of the big operators seem to have great confidence in this property. Rover dropped to 27c, under selling pressure, but the demand was light, even at this price. Some Swansea changed hands. Wonder was called for the first time, and found sale at This is one of the old Cannon groups, lying between the Golden Gate and East Golden Gate.
