One of the most important mining enterprises recently launched in this region is that of the Golden King Mining and Milling company, that filed its articles of incorporation in this city yesterday. The company is an exceptionally strong one, being composed of prominent capitalists and mining operators of Utah and Idaho, and it is the owner of a splendid group of developed properties located in the Dixie mining district, Elmore county, Idaho. The officers and directors of the Golden King, company are all well known in mining and business circles and are gentlemen of high standing in this community. The president is W. H. Dodge, who has been connected with many important enterprises., at Park is City. Dan Reber, the known throughout the length and breadth of Idaho as a mining operator of extensive interests. The treasurer is Hon. W. S. McCornick, the n Salt Lake banker, and F. B. Cook, the energetic and enterprising mining operator of this city, is the secretary. In addition to these gentlemen the board of directors consists of the Hon. James Glendenning, Mayor of Salt Lake City, F. W. Hanson and W. M. Rash, merchants. The Golden King company is the owner of eight patented, and five unpatented claims in the Dixie mining district, containing in all about 260 acres. Over $50,000 have been expended upon the property upon development work and their are few mines that make such an immense showing of ore. The main shaft, 10 by 6 feet, is 210 feet deep, all the way in ore, which shows an average assay value of $15 per ton. Numerous drifts have been run, ineluding one on the 100 level; which has been driven to the westward 160 feet in solid ore, that shows an average assay value of $25 per ton. At a point 170 feet from the shaft, east on the level, a cross-cu- t has been run sixty feet to determine the size of the vein. The first sixteen feet showed an average value of $20 per ton and the remainder an average of $6. These figures are sufficient to show that the company has a mountain or ore, and the vein crops out on the surface for a distance of 12,000 feet. This outcrop is from 20 to 50 feet wide and shows values of $3 to $50 per ton in gold. From conservative estimates, made by competent experts, there is over a million dollars worth of ore in sight in one claim alone, and tests have demonstrated that the ore yields most readily to the cyanide treatment. There is an abundance of water power right on the property to generate electric power for the mine and mill, and with these economical facilities the cost of mining and milling by the cyanide process will not exceed $3 per ton. Upon this basis the ore in sight in the Golden claim alone will yield a profit of $615,-00The company has decided to operate the property upon a most extensive scale and its operations will do much towards attracting the attention of the outside world to the rich mineral resources of Elmore county. Mr. L. C. Trent will visit the property shortly for the purpose of preparing plans and estimates for the cyanide mill and an electric hoist. The, capitalization of the company is 250.000 shares of the par value of $4, For the paid up and purpose of providing funds for the extensive improvements decided upon 40.000 shares of the stock have been set apart, to be sold at $1 per share. As the stock has actual values behind it and the management of the company is in such safe hands, it is an opportunity worth investigating by investors and speculators. All communications should be addressed to F. B. Cook, secretary, Atlas block, Salt Lake City. The miners hospital at Hailey was destroyed by fire last Thursday. . vice-preside- nt, well-know- - 100-fo- ot 0. non-assessab- le. |
