However, a upon learning that this was the plan, the larger copper companies of the state volunteered to provide the necessary fluids to make this possible. Therefore,- the request for the appropriation has been withdrawn. Establishment of the State Mineral Museum is being made possible by six of the major mining companies: American Smelting and Refining Company, Inspiration Consolidated Kennecott Copper Company, Copper Corporation, Magma year-roun- Copper Company, Miami Copper Company, and Phelps Dodge Corporation. These companies have agreed to underwrite the expense of opening the' museum and maintaining it on a year round basis, and details of han-- . dling the project have been approved by the Arizona State Fair Commission, the state auditor; and the attorney general. The Mineral Building already houses ore specimens of exceptional value, and of a type which cannot be duplicated or replaced. Many are relics of the old days of beautiful ores, quite different from the types which can be found today. Mining men have often termed it criminal waste for the state to possess such a wonderful display of the states minerals, yet open it to during the Arizona State Fair, the public only once a year Practically every state maintains a mineral exhibit in its capital city," although in many states the mineral resources are quite insignificant to those in Arizona. . o . Donald Moore, director. . The holdings of Canadian Northland uranium Explorations Ltd., consists of four separate claim groups, aggregating over 2200 acres in area, a total of 43 claims. A 11 are situated in close proximity to active drilling and exploration programs now under way on nearby properties. Twp groups, totalling 21 claims, are located in the Donaldson Lake area, close to the Eldorado HAB group, directly north of the main Eldorado operations. Arrangments are being made to have the properties and geologically mapped, with subsequent geiger counter and scintillometer surveys to be conducted. This will be followed by reconnaissance diamond drilling to determine the extent of any indicated radioactive min eralization, Mr. Moore states. Monies for this preliminary exploratory activity will be advanced by the parent company, Dominion Miners Development Ltd. Negotiations are underway to arrange large scale financing through 'participation of other major mining companies currently indicating interest in the development of the Canadian Northern Uranium properties. Significant finds on any one or all of the four claim groups will be followed by a program of public financing involving the formation of a new company, or companies, to develop the separate properties. d line-survey- ed |
