The white mans search for oil to fuel a machine age is bringing tidy sums to some Indians in the west and northwest. The Indian office reports that since last April several large tiacts of Indian lands have been leased for oil and gas exploration. The largest deal reported was a bonus of $2,090,965 paid for sixteen leases involving acres of the consolidated Ute reserveration in Colorado, the agency reported.
