SEEGMILLER TALKS nature add security to a government bond. Why, when the government gets ready to make appropriations, does it come from the government with a low rate of inand when it reaches the ' terest, needy, they cant afford it. Against Revolution I am not of a revolutionary character. I dont believe that there is a better government on the face of the earth than the government of the United States of America, no more security in any document thaa in the. Constitution of the lnited States. It isnt right for the children of the Mormon pioneers people who were patriotic people who exhibited wonderful patriotism it ill becomes the children of our forefathers to tear down such such a Constitution, the effect of which is weakened only by the frailities of the human family. What we must do is to raise up a people who will reap the benefits of that wonderful document, that its liberty and freedom will reflect down the rank and file of the common people. Lets not experiment with forms that have caused suffering and misery. Lets stand by the principles that we know are right. Lets elect the officials who we know stand for the principles of justice. We are in bondage, but we are going to work our way out of this. We are going to be courageous. Some day we will look back and say, "Weve cured these defects. We may get out of thin depression, but it will recur, unless, through real organization, we correct it. I thank you. Badly As We Thought We Did (Dr. Elmer G. Peterson, President, Agricultural College, in Salt Lake Tribune.) One of Utah countys agricultural agents expressed a great deal in a sentence or two the other day. Asked as to how the people in his county were going to get along during the coming summer ana winter, he replied that they were going to get along all right. he said, Sire are going to without money. We along get found we dont need it nearly as badly as we thought we did, and so if those who have the money insist on holding on to it, we will just let them keep it. Of course there are limits to the interchange of commodities such as the absence of money makes necessary, but when a monetary system works as imperfectly as ours is now working, people can be excused for resorting to primitive barter in their effort to satisfy their wants. The farmers themselves have no desire to return to barter; they do so only as a result of the present serious inadequacy of our present monetary system. It was brought out in a recent statement by an eastern economist that after all a qurater of beef could be exchanged for as many bushels of potatoes as it would bring during our prosperity; so with the exchange of wheat for cotton, fruit for mutton or wool, and any of these or other agricultural LITERATURE commodities for certain other OF ASSOCIATION needed goods in general, real estate and many other items. It shows how all lifes necessities and luxuries may be bad in abundance and how suffering!, fear want and failure may be banished from the life of man. It explains the departments of the N. THE CARE OF YOUR FEET Your body rests upon your feet as, a massive building rests upon its foundation. If a stone slips out of place in the foundation a crack may appear in the topmost ceiling. If your feet become weakened or flattened you are likely to feel the effects clear to the top of your head. . If the distress were limited to the feet it would be bad enough, but it often extends to remote parts of the body. Stubborn cases of headache, backache, continued fatigue, poor circulation, indigestion, unruly nerves, spinal disorder, and pain often mistaken for kidney trouble, neuritis, or rehumatism each may have its origin in the feet. These talks are given through the courtesy of Dr. W.-F- . The 12,000 agricultural marketing societies have 2,000,000 members. Farmers to the number of at least 500 are supplying their members with $100,000,000 worth of commodities per year. Over 13,000 nl loan associations with fe000.000 capital have 12,000,000 . members. Put it down in history that the N. D. A. has started a cannery in Utah at a time when most all, other canneries have suspended busily ness because of an of last year's goods still on hand. Joseph Dewey and his assistants began operations last week with 600 pounds of peas picked and brought in from Davis county. Following the canning of peas the work of canning cherries got underway when a crew of association men and boys began nicking a large crop at Holladay. The work will be kept up all during the season and the warehouse will be full of fruits and vegetables for members to feed up on during the winter season. over-supp- PEOPLE REQUIRE MORE MONEY The most important issue before the people of the United States today is more money which should be in volume sufficient to meet all the requirements of the nation. To carry on all industries which are essential to support the activities of the people. It should be a money for us, other than reserves, a full legal tender, for all debts public ana private and not redeemable in gold. It should be issued by the government, only, whether gold, silver or currency. Gold of the United States The gold of the United States is no longer of any value to carry bn our industries or meet the requirements of the people. There are over three billions of dollars melted into gold bars and stored away in vaults, to prevent its use by the The treasurers report, people. for the year 1931, pages shows there were $4,552,558,948 in gold and gold bullion hoarded in the vaults of the federal reserve system and the United States treasury. There were less than 25 cents per capita in gold in all banks in the United States available for use and needs of the people. Insufficient Gold for Monetary Use Unless silver can be used with gold as a monetary base at its present coinage ratio, gold should be demonetized and no longer used as money . There are 45 nations today with a billion and a half people, in a deadly struggle for gold. While the estimated eleven billions of dollars in gold is hoarded in vaults of 45 government treasuries and their central or reserve banks, little gold and few gold certificates for use of the people in gold standard nations and none of the rest of the world. Edmunds. 19-55- 0, half-starv- ed NSW CONNECTIONS N. D. A. FOR (News, Amarillo, Texas.) . No more prosperity for me . I have had more fun since the depression started than I ever had in my life. I had forgotten how to live; what it meant to have real friends; what it is like to eat common every day food. I was getting just a little high hat. Three years ago only one man of the News Globe organization could be out of town at a time and he had to leave at the last minte and get back as soon as possible. Many times I have driven 100 miles to a banquet, sat through three hours of bunk in order to make a speech, then drive the 100 miles back so as to be ready for work the next morning. Nowadays, as many News-Glob- e employees as are invited nl those trips and we stay as long as we want to. The whole outfit could leave the office now and it wouldn't make any difference. I like the degression. I have time to visit my friends, to make new ones. Two years ago when I went to a neighboring town, I had always stayed at a hotel. Now I go home with my friends, stay all night and enjoy home cooking. I have even spent the week-en- d with some of the boys who have been kind enough to invite me. It's great to drop into a store and feel that you can spend an hour or two or three or a half day just visiting and not feel that you are wasting valuable times. I like the depression. I am getting acquainted with my neighbors. In the last six months I have become acquainted with folks who have been living next door to me for three years. I am following the Biblical admonition, Love thyneighborx One of my neighbors has one of the best looking wives I have ever seen. She is a dandy. I am getting acquainted with my neighbors and learning to love them. Three years ago I ordered my clothes from a merchant tailor-t- wo and three suits at a time. All my clothes were good ones. I was always dressed up. But now, I haven't bought a suit in two years. I am mighty proud of my clothes. When I dress up, I am dressed up and I don't mean maybe. I like the depression. Three years ago I was so .busy and my wife was so busy that we didn't see much of each other, consequently we sort of lost interest in each other. I never went home to lunch. About twice a week I went home for dinner at 6 JO oclock. I never had time to go anywhere with her. If I did go on a party I could never locate her. Since there was always a blonde" or a redhead available I didnt much worry about it My wife belonged to all the clubs in town. She even joined the young mothers' dub. We dont have any children, but she was studying and between playing bridge and going to clubs ue was home. never at We got stuck-u- p and We even took down the old family bed and. bought a set of twin beds on the installment plan. When I would come home at night if my wife was at home, she would already be in her bed and I would crawl into mine. If I came in first it was vice versa. We like the depression. We have come down off our pedestal and are really living at my house now. The twin beds are stored in the garage and the old family affair is being used. We are enjoying life. botInstead of taking a tle to bed these cold nights, she sticks her heels in my back just like she did before Hoover was elected.
