When court took a recess at noon today only eight districts In Davis county remained to he counted. Aa very few ballots were challenged In those districts the reviewing will be an easy matter. Making a review of the recount in the three counties and the challenged bullota admitted up to noon today, the status of the candidates In the various counties la as follows: Originally Howell carried Weber county by 12 votes; on the recount Rolapp carried it by 22. Howell's original majority In Morgan county was 99; on the recount It was reduced to 81. Deducting' Rolapps Weber county majority from Howell's Davis county lead this leaves the latter a net majority of 59 In the two counties named. In the eight districts counted in Davis county Howell gained 5 votes. His original majority In this county was 55. This is the fifth week of the hearing of the case. Judge Morse and the attorneys engaged have had a very tedious task and doubtless will rejoice exceedingly when the hearing Is completed. AMhether any further legal technicalities will be raised or not la not known, but doubtless the issue will be taken to the supreme court. B. G. KNOTH'S AFFAIRS. Z. CHARLES WEST'S SAD PLIGHT. la Found to bo Mentally Unsound and la Sant to State Hospital. Charles West, who resides at 3295 Ogden avenue, was examined by Drs. J. S. Gordon and A. Fernlund as to his mental condition today. The examination took place in the private office of Sheriff Bailey and after careful examination the physicians concluded that West was mentally unsound and should be confined In the state mental hospital. He was taken to Provo this afternoon. West was only released from the state hospital in June, 1903, where he hud been confined for some considerHe is suffering from able time. strange hallucinations.
