The Knights Templar excursions and the world's fair specials have alone taken through the city unusually large amount of traffic and this, coupled with the usual autumn rush and the washouts in the south, which have necessitated the running of Santa Fe trains through this city have thrown an unusual amount of work upon the various local railway , well-kno- departments. Freight traffic between Ogden and Reno has been practically tied up since yesterday morning. Through freights are still moving with difficulty, but local freights between here and Reno p are at o complete standstill. The is the result of a strike among the switchmen, switch engineers and firemen. Every member of these departments quit work yesterday morning and since that time not a wheel in that department has turned. The strike is on because the employes too claim they have been worked hard and on account of the rush in business are unable to keep the yards clear. The officials found it impossible to give the men the required rest and the walkout was the result. Thus far the trouble has not extended to any other department In the service. Laat night the company made an effort to relieve the congested condition of the yards in both towns by sending out freight crews under orders to work as work trains. It is not known whether the trouble will be settled today. If not it will be impossible to get freight trains through the yards at these ened the life of his fathey-in-laThe deceased was 41 years of age and leaves a widow and two children.
